I just use my carpet steamer to clean them.

First we vacuum them. They lay them on the laundry room floor and run the carpet steamer over them.

Then, put them out in the WARM sunshine to dry, lol. Won't be cleaning them for another couple of months.

Not only do I just plain old hate this cold weather and snow, but I hate what it does to your car!!!!! The slush, salt, etc. really makes a mess of your carpet and floor mats, etc.

How do you keep them clean? What product do you use and/or method?

Here's another scenario I've been thinking about. I saw these mats and trays that are made out of some type of rubberized material that are made in America and have been toying with getting a set. I think the company is something like Weathertech (not sure if this is right). Does anyone have these -- if so -- what do you think?

I just hate having dirty/crummy floors and mats in my car!!!

Thanks for any and all suggestions!!!

I have ridden in a sports car with weathertec floor liners. Very well made and classy. They would make a wonderful gift and have considered buying them. As for cleaning the floormats, Bissell carpet cleaning solution and a brush in the tub. Hang to dry.

Fortunately, this winter I didn't need to do this due to lack of any snow in the dc area. What I've done in the past was I put down an old towel I folded in half and placed on top of the floor mat. I never had it bunch up at all when I was driving and I just shook the towel out outside to get the salt from the roads out of it. Worked just fine for the winter. My mats stayed nice and clean too.

Weathertech mats are worth their weight in gold! We have them in all three vehicles. We live in sand city. All you have to do is unclip them, take them out and dump the sand.

When I leave the grocery store, I always grab a few wipes to disinfect hands after shopping, then I use them to wipe up spots here and there on the mats.

We have huge cargo mats for the back of our Suburbans, too. Carpets look brand new underneath.

We were returning a rental car in NYC one time and the mats were covered in a horrible orange dirt from the salt. I was afraid we would be charged for a cleaning fee.

I took them out and placed them face down in the snow and stomped on them. The orange dirt came off and the mats looked pretty darn good.

Try it. Make mother nature work for you!

You can't go wrong with WeatherTech floor mats. When you order the mats you provide them with the year, make and model of your car and the mats are made to order. They fit perfectly and do not slip and slide around like store bought mats. They gather the dirt and moisture (snow, ice, etc.) in raised channels and keep it away from the carpeting underneath. They are easy to remove for cleaning. Mats are made of quality material in the USA! We have them and will never go back to regular mats. I give them a 5 star plus rating.

We have Weathertech floormats in all of our cars. They cost about $200 for front and back.

I go to a self car wash and hang the mats on the clips on the wall and powerwash them. They come out looking brand new.

If you have a pressure washer...just spray the mats with a detergent, let them sit for a few minutes and pressure wash the dirt right off.
