new k cups

I have purchased Chock full of nuts and New england coffe recently and not only do they not have the special ring on the cup lable they do not have the plastic cup! I live alone and do not need the caraf keurig has been pushing. I purchased the platinum as a backup to what I have. I guess not all coffee companies are buying into the keurig plan.

This made the national news the other day and the Keurig CEO said they misread the public on creating the new Keurig. Do you Think?? How about the Vue they brought out and you had to buy different Vue cups? Maybe he needs to go.

I have 2 standard Keurigs that use any k-cup (except for the ones made for the 2.0). I like it like that!

Q2, I'm glad the CEO acknowledges that they dropped the ball with the 2.0.

The other thing in the news this week is that John Sylvan, inventor of coffee pods in the early 1990's, regrets his invention because of the negative impact the pods are having on the environment. Today, he doesn't even own a pod machine or drink Keurig coffee.

While I love my 2.0 I think they're just s u c king up to the media. I'm guessing most people will buy the cups that are recommended and Keurig is still ahead of the game. While I do use the refillable cups, sometimes they're just a pia to fill and clean for a cup of coffee.

I bought one of the carafe cup refills and don't use it for the carafe but I do use it for a really strong to go cup.

debc, a My K-Cup came with the Keurig I bought in September. I haven't used it. I haven't even bought ground coffee since my first Keurig 6 years ago! K-cups come in so many varieties and flavors.

Just my opinion, but Keurig was an innovator. They will be ahead of the game for a long time!

I read about the inventor, too. He says the K Cups are not environmentally friendly and he regrets their invention. He also says they are too expensive as compared to other ways to make coffee.

I never liked those my K-Cup things, you have to pop out part of your machine to use them and they hold less coffee. I use them for a straining funnel.

I'm sure he's not regretting the millions of dollars he's made off of his invention!

My k-cup takes away the convenience "instant" coffee with a Keurig.

They are no less environmentally friendly than anything else prepackaged. Cans, bottles, plastic for a lot of prepared foods, glass jars, baggies, tinfoil, and on and on....

If you are a devout recycler you can find a way to reuse these. Fact is most people don't recycle even recyclable items. I use the vue type cups for scoops, regular kcups make great seed cups with the vue cups on top for green house effect. Carafe cups would also make great beading cups, with a little pouring spout to boot. You're only limited by your own imagination. Then of course the coffee it's self can go into a compost pot.

It's all about convenience here, if people are willing to pay more for that, who cares?

More useless facts.

25 grams= Empty 20 oz water bottle

20 grams=Empty pop can

doesn't even register=empty kcup

5 grams=empty vue cup

20 grams=kcup just used with wet coffee grounds.

People complain so much about k-cups not being recyclable, but what are they doing with theirs? Too many complaints and no suggestions for reuse.

I ecowbrew, solofil, and now I have the carafe one from perfect pods, I use that one for 14-16 oz. to go cups. I've reformatted my old ekowbrew and solofils with the stickers and orange tape. I haven't really needed the stickers since I taped the orange thing in the lid tho. I figured it would fall off by now but it hasn't. I still buy k cups as well depends on what I want at the time.

I'm not a very good recycler actually, but if I see something that I think will work well I will use it.

While it's way to early to start flowers inside here, I started these to see if they were still viable.

I love my Keurig... absolutely love it. I do not have a need for a Carafe... or a pot of coffee, one of the reasons I love the original (and with display variations) Keurig. I have upgraded over the years and now have one that is about 2 years old, has the water feature, a very convenient display. We drink two or three cups during the morning and that's usually it unless I need a decaf (cause it's so cold here) in the afternoon, or a tea.

I've been watching the 2.0's and some of the retailers here are getting desperate. Saw them a little over $100 to buy one just recently.

I also have the individual style for our Motor Home, works great.

My suggestion to the CEO, instead of devoting time and money to developing something that more or less bombs... develop some SUGAR FREE K-cups~!~ I would love some hot chocolate or Sweet Teas. Diabetics can't drink most of the Specialty drinks!

The idea of using the cups as a seedling starter is an excellent idea~!

John Sylvan sold his share of the company in 1997 for $50,000. The Keurig Green Mountain Company on the other hand has made millions.

People who complain about k-cups not being recyclable (1) don't own a K-cup brewing system and (2) reduce, reuse, and recycle their waste, in that order.

K-cups are made of #7 plastic, otherwise known as "other." There are very few, if any, municipalities in the U.S. that accept it for recycling.

You should care about the environment; it's the world your children will live in. To me, it seems selfish not to care or to say "who cares?"

#3, people who are all talk and do no more recycling than anyone else. Talk is cheap and people on their high horse seem to talk the most.

A lot of places have no recycling options at all, and some have places that just take it to the dump.
