I am going to Las Vegas in July on business. I will be there for five days. I know it is hot, hot, hot! What to wear? What to wear???!!! I am 57, wear an x-large or 1X (14W-16W) and am 5'7. Cotton is my fabric of choice as polyester and other fabrics often spark my own "personal summer". I need at least a short sleeve and longer length dress/skirt. I hear the resorts/hotels/casinos are often chilly ??, but I will probably do some shopping and exploring in the evening. Is Vegas all glitz and glamour or can I get away with casual and conservative? What do I wear to a casino?

Oh, hot doesn't even cover it for July in LV!

Obviously, you know it will be super-mega hot but also it is an arid climate. So, if you're used to humidity you might want to bring, or pick up, a humidifier to run at night.

While I love an arid climate (I live in N. NV and it's arid up here too, thankfully, but a lot less hot), when I first moved here 35 years ago we had to have a humidifier in the bedroom at night until we acclimated.

Yeah, everywhere is air-conditioned and that is a very good thing. But if you tend to get cold easily you might want to bring something light to layer because you'll just be taking it off soon. If you don't get cold easily the a/c will be nothing but relief.

We got married in LV one July and the best I can describe it is that when you come out of the hotel it's like you stepped into a hot oven. Dry and hot. Oh, and yeah, I'd definitely stick with the cotton. Poly is just not a good choice at all!

Totally casual. You can go as dressy as you like, but this is a very casual state so even in restaurants and especially in casinos or stores, casual will be what you will mostly see.

My daughters inlaws live in Vegas, they have now started spending their summers in Oregon due to the heat.

I go to Vegas often. I go during the summer a lot. Here's the thing, it's hot outside but inside everywhere is freezing. You can wear anything you want. If you plan on walking, then comfy shoes for sure. You will see everything from super casual to sparkly fancy. You can wear whatever you want! Do bring some light sweaters for indoors because the shops and casinos are cold. It's Vegas, there are no rules! You can wear whatever you want in the casinos. I love to watch all the people who come to Vegas and wear their sparkly clothes and stilettos. Most, though, are dressed very casually. I dress nice but very casual. Lots of walking involved.

I would never wear a long skirt when it's that hot. You'll roast in it. Pick something short and loose. If you're going to be in meetings or seminars, definitely bring a sweater or wrap. Those rooms are often freezing cold. Also bring a pair of closed toe shoes for the same reason.

Casual clothes are fine. I've been many times and have seen very few people all dressed up. BTW, been there in July....it's unbelievably HOT. February is a great time to go. 50's and 60's during the day, and 30's and 40's at night.

Anything goes in LV, and that includes clothing. I would wear crop pants daytime. If you are going to a show or nice dinner, you would want to take a pants outfit or dress. The heat will take your breath away, but you won't be in it much. Have fun.
