Inundated with SNOW!

We have piles 5 feet high all around. It's getting tough to pull out into the street - no sight lines.

And it's SNOWING again...we are expecting another foot before tomorrow morning.

My lilac and daffodil garden is covered with 7 feet of drifts - thanks to the plow man...

Oh, I am so jealous and I miss snow SO much. Right now if I were there I would be skiing up at HoliMont.

I am going up there in March with my daughter and grandson to attend my best friends daughters baby shower and I am staying for a week. I plan to eat the entire week. I am hitting up Chefs first, then Eckls, Mulberry Italian rest., Teds, Imperial Pizza, DiTondos, Panos, the Towne, etc... I actually have a list going of all the places we are going to eat at. I am also making several visits to Wegmans to stock up on some stuff.My friends tell me there are a lot of great new restaurants too so I will check those out as well.

I plan to make a quick trip to Kissing Bridge and ski a couple of runs when I go in March. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

You need to go skate at Canalside too...or just get a hot chocolate and watch. It's amazing what has been done down on the site of the old Aud. Shark Girl will be there too.

That is what all of my friends are telling me. They love it! Buffalo has really improved a lot since I left. I hear it compared to Austin TX a lot now.

I have really been missing Buffalo a lot. A lot of my closest friends are still there and so are my daughters. My husband and I have been talking about getting a little apt so we can come up and stay for a couple of weeks at a time.

Hey Terrier! I wish I could relieve you of some of that. I don't even think we're going to have winter this year. One snow, so far, that was shy of three inches - yeah, INCHES.

Lately we've been having highs in the 50s and 60s. I've lived within 30 miles of here for 35 years and that was unheard of.

We used to have 5-6 months of cold and months of butt-deep snow. Now we might get one decent storm every ten years. I miss it because I love winter.

Anyway, more seriously, be safe!!

I hate to mention it but we have 70 degrees in Albuquerque today. It looks very warm for SHQ's broadcasts from Tucson today.

Usually there is a melt/snow cycle and it doesn't accumulate.

But we have piles here at least 7 feet high and are running out of places to put the snow. Temps aren't expected to get above freezing for weeks - so the snow continues to pile up.

When I drove to Niagara Falls today, trucks were loading up the snow from the side of the Thruway and hauling it away.

Everyone is preparing for the next round by trying to clear out the current snow.

Terrier3, I feel your pain. Here in OP/Hamburg it's the same. We get plowed out but with the drifts in the driveway, it's another 2-3 feet of just blowing, drifting snow, the banks at the end of the properties on the berms is at least 10'. And, of course, more on the way this week. We're brave and hearty though!

Irish --- make sure you stop by Orchard Fresh in Orchard Park on your visit here. It's on Buffalo St in OP -- the old Jubilee store. Sort of a mini Wegmans, but owned by Tops! Great stuff and great staff. Schwabels reopened after being closed for almost a year. But if you want a great roast beef try JP's on Lakeview Rd in Lakeview (between Rte. 20 and 5 by the tracks) -- you too T3!!!

Terrier3, did you see where there's a raclette restaurant opening soon on the 500-600 block of Main Street. I know the owners.

Terrier, I didn't think you were in a snow belt. Are't you somewhere south? South Carolina? Help me out here! Yes, we are inundated here in Nova Scotia but some neighboring Provinces like New Brunswick have had it much worse. They declared a state of emergency in St. John, NB closing down streets while dump trucks cleared them. They have had a very hard winter. We were good until Feb and then it went off the rails. We have a lot of snow in Michigan. Our piles are crazy high, but It's FEBRUARY! It's the dead of Winter. I do not expect anything any different. I bet it's going to be in the high 80's in July too

Helen, I didn't know you are in Buffalo, too !! I moved to Los Angeles after the Blizzard of 77 !!

I grew up in Orchard Park, and now both my sisters live in Hamburg! Every time I visit at Christmas time, the snow is wonderful .... but only because it's a novelty!

You're inundated with snow; PNW is inundated with rain, particularly South Sound. Now the land is giving way in parts. You can't escape some weather disaster somewhere in this country. I don't think I'd want to ever live in heavy snow again, but I'm not too thrilled about the areas near me that are flooding or collapsing.

I hope everyone stays safe. I still remember the awful mudslide that killed all those people just a few years ago in a town near Seattle.

CB.....it's 75 right now which is very unusual for February. Earlier when I went to the market it was 79. I wore a tank top with a light weight pair of jeans.
