Correction on measles mortality rate

The actual measles mortality rate is 1 in 333, NOT 1 in 1000 as I previously reported. This revised figure is from a Forbes article from this week. HERE The risk of experiencing an adverse effect from the vaccine is roughly 1 in 40,000.

Thanks. I do think everyone is entitled to their opinion on this. It's a tough subject and a lot of misinformation.

I was trying to remember if I had it but don't think I did (I know I had the mumps). From what I've read one has immunity for life when you do. So, it would seem if everyone had it....no one would be getting in a dither worried about getting it now(?).

The disease has not been eradicated worldwide. So those who are unvaccinated and visiting foreign countries could pick up the disease and bring it back to the USA. And no, not everyone has had it-- even you admit to not being sure you had it.

Get a blood titer and be sure.

I was vacinated as a kid. My dad lost his brother to diptheria (sp).

Right, no vaccines for that.

The 50's were a wonderful time to be young - except when they weren't. In terms of health issues, there's almost no reason I'd like to return to the past.
