Clipped a bridge and a taxi cab on the bridge in Taiwan and was caught on camera with a car's dash cam. 31 dead but amazingly, when you see the video ( on CNN website) , no one in the taxi was seriously injured.

This particular Airline company seems to be having a bad year. This is #2 for them and #5 for Asian owned carriers. I think I would seriously reconsider flying with any of them. Just lucky there weren't more cars on the bridge

The CNN article mentioned both airlines with the sum total of 3 accidents in the year, so it was confusing,. You are right.

Fortunately the black boxes have been recovered. I just read the following, an excerpt fromhttp://www.cnn.com/2015/02/04/asia/taiwan-plane-crash-transasia/index.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_topstories+%28RSS%3A+Top+Stories%29

A male voice apparently inside the cockpit of TransAsia Airways Flight GE235 gave a mayday call shortly before the plane crashed in a Taiwan river Wednesday, killing at least 31 people. The voice says, "GE235. Mayday, mayday. Engine flameout," according to a recording verified by LiveATC.net, which records air traffic control feeds.

Twin engine prop planes losing an engine on takeoff or landing are a nightmare to fly. It takes a very experienced (and sometimes lucky) pilot to land such a plane safely. When one engine dies the plane wants to pull off course and that has to be instantly corrected, but correcting it tends to cost airspeed and if you lose too much airspeed the plane will stall and fall from the sky. Any pilot trained to fly twin engine prop planes will break into a cold sweat at the prospect of losing an engine on takeoff or landing. It's a very dangerous situation.
