Hello my friends! Here we start another week of blessings - God is always ready to give us! This morning's blessings was Mass and we got the St. Blaise blessing too, for our throats after Mass. Feast of St. Blaise is Feb. 3rd, but we got our blessings today being more are at Mass on Sunday. Rested this afternoon, had supper with Ray and Ann - Ray prepared a wonderful chicken dinner! He loves to cook! Ann doesn't mind one bit! Just got home - and we had a wonderful, long visit! Come and share with us how God has blessed you!

God values us so much that He gave us all that He has; His Son Jesus.

Show that you value Him, too, by putting Him first in all aspects of your

life. Lord, when I put You first in my life, order and peace follow.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

I believe that all sacrifice and all suffering is of value to me. When I am
in pain, I am often tested. Can I trust in God, not matter how I feel? Can
I say, "Your will be done," no matter how much I am defeated? If I can do
these things, my faith is real and practical. It can work in bad times as
well as in good times. God's will can work in a way that is beyond my
finite mind to understand, but I can still trust in it.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may take my suffering in my stride. I pray that I may accept
pain and defeat as they come, and grow spiritually as I receive God's
strength to make it through.

The Difference between Optimists and Pessimists

In order to better understand people’s views of the world, a researcher once placed two children, one a pessimist and the other an optimist, alone in separate rooms.

The pessimist was placed in a colorful room full of all kinds of imaginative toys…the optimist was put in a room filled with horse manure.

The first child played in the room for a little while, but soon came to the door asking to leave because the toys were boring and because they broke too easily.

Likewise, the young optimist soon came to the door…but rather than asking to leave, she asked for a shovel.

Of course, the researcher asked the child why she wanted a shovel.

She replied, “With all this manure around, I know that there must be a pony in here somewhere.”

Can You See God?

A small boy once approached his slightly older sister with a question about God. "Susie, can anybody ever really see God?" he asked.

Busy with other things, Susie curtly replied: "No, of course
not silly. God is so far up in heaven that nobody can see him"

Time passed, but his question still lingered so he approached his mom: "Mom, can anybody ever really see God?" "No, not really," she gently said. "God is a spirit and he dwells in our hearts, but we can never really see Him."

Somewhat satisfied but still wondering, the youngster went on his way. Not long afterwards, his saintly old grandfather took the little boy on a fishing trip.

They were having a great time together. The sun was beginning to set with unusual splendor and the grandfather stared silently at the exquisite beauty unfolding before them.

On seeing the face of his grandfather reflecting such deep
peace and contentment, the little boy thought for a moment and finally spoke hesitatingly:
"Granddad, I--I-- wasn't going to ask anybody else, but I wonder if you can tell me the answer to something I've been wondering about a long time. Can anybody--can anybody ever really see God?"

The old man did not even turn his head. A long moment slipped by before he finally answered. "Son," he quietly said. "It's getting so I can't see anything else."

Another gesture of communicating healing love

Lightly place the palms of your hands with your thumbs touching each other on top of the person's head whom you are blessing. Hold in mind the simple intention to let God's energy flow through your hands connecting the person to God. Imagine a stream of energy from the top of the person's head upward to God back again. Visualize this energy filling the person's brain,unifying the three parts of the brain, filtering down throughout the entire nervous system, and into their heart. Pause for at least 30 seconds or a minute. No words are necessary. Repeat often.

This blessing can also be sent long distance if you are not physically with your loved one. Just hold your hands out and visualize or imagine that you are together. We are all connected energetically, i.e. through love.

Our intention in giving this blessing or any other blessing should be simple and pure, without any agenda or desire to change or control the other person. It can be hard to put aside one's judgments or impatience if we are irritated with the person we are blessing. Just do the best that you can to put aside those feelings during the blessing. We have extra energy in our hands and adding our intention to communicate love and healing to this energy will indeed be a blessing for the recipient. You can also bless yourself this way if no one is around to return the blessing to you.

Gloria, Sounds like a very nice evening with friends! I reconnected yesterday with friends on another daily thread, and it feels so good to be back in touch with everyone. I didn't realize just how much I'd grown to rely on the company and support here. Made my day, I can tell you that. I loved the grandfathers response in the story "Can You See God ?". I hope to feel that more every day.

We did get snow after all, 5-6 inches.... I can't tell if it's a little heavier type snow, or just all the drifting around the steps to the deck making seem that way. I swept off what I could, and the rest will have to get done later on when the driveway gets plowed. I would have pushed to do more at one time, but it's just not possible anymore. I'm grateful we have someone reliable to come help us. It used to bother me at times to have lost some independence, but lately I just feel grateful to have the help. pinky

Thanks Harlene! At least we have places to put it after it gets plowed, and our guy does a great job for us. I was hoping for the rain after seeing your post. Maybe next time... pinky

Wow Pinky Ann - you got the snow!! Nothing here, Thanks be to God! Praying for an early spring. Can hardly wait, although last year was more harsh! That's so nice to be re-connected with friends! Glad you found them!!
