Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello my friends! Hope you are doing okay in the snow storm states! Stay warm and take care! Thinking of you all with prayer. Today we got up to 40 degrees!! Unreal for January! Last year it was way below zero if I remember right. That was a big blessing for today! Also didn't have to cook - still left over pork pot roast - added more carrots and potatoes to it, and we had that for lunch - think I'll put the rest in the freezer for another time. Salad for supper tonight when he gets home from work, Mondays he works till 8 PM. He's on his way home now, he just called. Remember I had you all pray for Monica for successful surgery on her ear - and it was good, pray she has a good doctor's appt. at the University of Minnesota on Wednesday, and also for my sister, Deil, for she goes to her doctor on Wednesday too for her foot/toe, the corn. Wishing you all good night and see you tomorrow sometime!

Most often a gentle approach is the best resolution to a conflict.
Lord, I have been given today to improve myself and make life
better for others. Help me walk in the way that You lead me.

Meditation for the day:

We are God's servants. We can serve God cheerfully and readily.
Nobody likes a servant who avoids extra work, who complains about
being called from one task to do one less enjoyable. A master would
feel that he was being ill served by such a servant. But is that not
how we so often serve God? We can view our day's work in this light.
We can try to do our day's work the way we believe God wants us to do
it, never shirking any responsibility and often going out of our way
to be of service.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be a good servant. I pray that I may be willing to
go out of my way to be of service.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in high
school by telling them the difference they each made. She called each
student to the front of the class, one at a time. First she told each
of them how they had made a difference to her and the class. Then she
presented each of them with a blue ribbon imprinted with gold letters
which read, "Who I Am Makes a Difference."
Afterwards the teacher decided to do a class project to
see what kind of impact recognition would have on a community.

She gave each of the students three more ribbons and instructed them
to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to
follow up on the results, see who honored whom and report back to the
class in about a week.

One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby
company and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He
gave him a blue ribbon and put it on his shirt. Then he gave him two
extra ribbons and said, "We're doing a class project on recognition,
and we'd like you to go out, find somebody to honor, give them a blue
ribbon, then give them the extra blue ribbon so they can acknowledge a
third person to keep this acknowledgment ceremony going. Then please
report back to me and tell me what happened.

Later that day the junior executive went in to see his boss, who had
been noted, by the way, as being kind of a grouchy fellow. He sat his
boss down and he told him that he deeply admired him for being a
creative genius. The boss seemed very surprised. The junior executive
asked him if he would accept the gift of the blue ribbon and would he
give him permission to put it on him. His surprised boss said, "Well,
sure." The junior executive took the blue ribbon and placed it right
on his boss's jacket above his heart. As he gave him the last extra
ribbon, he said, "Would you do me a favor? Would you take this extra
ribbon and pass it on by honoring somebody else? The
young boy who first gave me the ribbons is doing a project in school
and we want to keep this recognition ceremony going and find out how
it affects people.

That night the boss came home to his 14-year-old son and sat him down.
He said, "The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was in my
office and one of the junior executives came in and told me he admired
me and gave me a blue ribbon for being a creative genius. Imagine. He
thinks I'm a creative genius. Then he put this blue ribbon that says
'Who I Am Makes A Difference' on my jacket above my heart. He gave me
an extra ribbon and asked me to find somebody else to honor. As I was
driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would honor with
this ribbon and I thought about you. I want to honor you. My days are
really hectic and when I come home I don't pay a lot of attention to
you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting good enough grades in
school and for your bedroom being a mess, but somehow tonight, I just
wanted to sit here and, well, just let you know that you do make a
difference to me. Besides your mother, you are the most important
person in my life. You're a great kid and I love you!"

The startled boy started to sob and sob, and he couldn't stop crying.
His whole body shook. He looked up at his father and said through his
tears, "I was planning on committing suicide tomorrow, Dad, because I
didn't think you loved me. Now I know you care. This is the happiest
day I've known."

The boss went back to work a changed man. He was no longer a grouch
but made sure to let all his employees know that they made a
difference. The junior executive helped several other young people
with career planning and never forgot to let them know that they made
a difference it his life...one being the bosses son. And the young boy
and his classmates learned a valuable
lesson.

Who you are DOES make a difference.

Very happy that once again our weather people were wrong. They had been predicting from 20" down to 12". Got up this morning and if we got an inch it was a lot. I'm not disappointed I love when they are wrong.

We are being hit with all this snow. Yesterday I had someone come over and clean my sidewalk and clean off my car and now it needs done again. It is snowing again right now.

They were wrong, very wrong! We in NJ got about 6-8 inches of the predicted 20 plus predicted. But the tip of Long Island did get most of the brunt of the storm.

Hi Gang!

Harlene, BobbieSue, and Shorelady, I hope the snowfall amounts that you end up with are far less than expected. We had another inch or two fall since the afternoon hours yesterday, but have had a beautiful sunny day all day. It's quite cold, but so much better than last years weeks of zero or below for weeks on end.

Gloria: I wish we had close to your 40 degrees! Your pork roast dinner sounds so good! We just had the "supper discussion" here a few minutes ago. It happens when I have no clue what to make already. He's fine with sandwiches, maybe french toast, and I'm good with that.

I've been feeding some of the birds and squirrels in the mornings since they don't have much food around right now. It's so neat to watch them, and the cats just crouch down by the door and watch them intently. One squirrel started to come over to see them, and our littlest cat backed right away. Poor thing can be scared of his own shadow sometimes. There are two birdhouses I have to repair for spring, but want to do it outside when we have a warmer day. Not really wanting any surprise "company"! Have a good evening. Hugs to all, pinky

Hi everyone! Just noticed how awful the thread looks, didn't see that before! Sorry, I don't know how that happened. I'm embarrassed!

Hope your snow wasn't too much today - and that you were missed the hard hit!

Pinky - how nice of you to be feeding the birds and squirrels! Too much ice in our back porch for me to even venture out there, on that granite - Sammy falls down, but he doesn't have far to fall and doesn't get hurt! He just gets right up and goes. We are enjoying the warmer temps for sure compared to last year!
