When you are troubled, comfort someone more troubled, when lonely, reach out
to one that is lonelier and when unsure, give encouragement to the weary.
To care
for another makes us forget our own sorrows. Lord, You comfort me. Help me
now to be a comforter.

Scripture for the day:

"Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time,
but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who
have been trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and
strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so
that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed."
~Hebrews 12:11-13

Meditation for the day:

A truly spiritual man or woman would like to have a serene mind. The
best way to keep calm in this troubled world is to have a serene mind.
The calm and sane mind sees spiritual things as the true realities and
material things as only temporary and fleeting. That sort of mind we
can never obtain by reasoning, because our reasoning powers are limited
by space and time. That kind of mind we can never obtain by reading,
because other minds are also limited in the same way. We can only have
that mind by an act of faith, by making the venture of belief.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may have a calm and sane mind. I pray that I may look up,
around and away from myself.

Hello my friends! Hope you all had a nice and peaceful Sunday! We went to
Mass last night as we went this morning to my SIL's for a family gathering -
big brunch! Nice visit which took most of the day. Family reunion
planning. It was a nice, peaceful day - I'm grateful for all my in-laws,
Linus' 3 brothers and 2 sisters and spouses. Tonight I'm at a loss for
words, I'm tired, and so I'll post the inspirations and hope to see you all
tomorrow!

"Stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming" (Mt
24:42)

A Time to Prepare for the Coming of the Lord

The season of Advent begins today. At the heart of Advent is the idea of
preparation for the coming of the Lord not only at Christmas but also at the
end of our life. We mark this special character of Advent by the colour
purple and by omitting the Gloria. One aspect of preparation is to be aware
of where the Lord comes into our life, where we meet him in t he events of
the day.

PERSONAL PRAYER

Jesus, I believe that I have received your flesh to eat and your blood to
drink, because you have said it and Lord, make me aware of your presence.

Give me the eyes to see you in the events of today, in the faces of those I
meet, in the minds and hearts of those who think of me, in the lives of
those whose paths will cross mine today.

Today, the first Sunday of Advent, the Church begins four weeks of
preparation to welcome you on Christmas day. Grant me your grace that I may
not fail in my personal preparation during this season of Advent.

As I prepare myself for Christmas, let my thoughts be on you and my less
priviledged brothers and sisters in the society. Let my preparation be more
a spiritual one rather than a material one. Amen.

Change Your Life by Fasting

Fast from SELF PITY,
and FEAST ON JOY!!
Fast from RESENTMENT,
and FEAST ON CONTENTMENT!!
Fast from JEALOUSY,
and FEAST ON LOVE!!
Fast from PRIDE,
and FEAST ON HUMILITY!!
Fast from SELFISHNESS,
and FEAST ON SERVICE!!
Fast from FEAR,
and FEAST ON FAITH!!
ISAIAH 58:6-8;
JOEL 2:12-17

If my Lord introduced me to someone, what would He have to say?

Would He be so proud and brag on me or reluctantly turn away?
This is a question I ponder as I travel along every day.

If my Lord introduced me to someone, what would He have to say?

Would He say, "Here's a strong, faithful servant who honors and worships My
name.
He lives his life in My service, his actions My mercy proclaim.
He tells of redemption at Calvary, he smiles as he speaks about Grace..."

If my Lord introduced me to someone, what would He have to say?

Could He say, "He is faithful and honest, My shield and banner he waves.
He is never too busy to witness, or to lift My name in praise."
Does He know without doubt I'm on His side? Do my actions forgiveness
portray?

If my Lord introduced me to someone, what would He have to say?

Would He speak about my selfish giving, the tithes that I never would pay?
Would He know deep within of my most hidden sin: my refusal His will to
obey?
Would my pride and resentment and anger deny His power to save?

If my Lord introduced me to someone, what would He have to say?

Could He smile as He welcomed me closer; would He motion for others to come
And join us in triumphant welcome as He told of the work I had done?
Would He thank me for showing compassion, could He boldly acknowledge my
name?

If my Lord introduced me to someone, what would He have to say?

They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-three students filing into the
already crowded auditorium.
With rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost
as grown up as they felt. Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and moms
freely brushed away tears. This class would not pray during the
commencements
----- not by choice but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.
The principal and several students were careful to stay within the
guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging
speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for
blessings on the graduates or their families. The speeches were nice, but
they were routine
.......until the final speech received a standing ovation. A solitary
student walked proudly to the microphone.
He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then he delivered his
speech.... an astounding SNEEZE!. The rest of the students rose immediately
to their feet, and in unison they said, "GOD BLESS YOU." The audience
exploded into applause. The graduating class had found a unique way to
invoke God's blessing on their future ... with or without the court's
approval.

Mary, Mother of Jesus,
give me your heart
so beautiful, so pure,
so immaculate,
that I may be able to receive
Jesus in the Bread of Life,
love Him as you loved Him,
and serve Him as you served Him
in the distressing disguise
of the poorest of the poor.
Amen.

Prayer composed by
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Good night everyone! God bless you all and wishing you sweet dreams. May
your Monday be blessed!
