Never let what you can't do get in the way of what you can do. Lord, help
me to recognize my abilities and focus only on my strengths so that each
day I will get nearer to my goals

Scripture for the day:

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the
mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and
foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult." ~Psalm 46:1-3

Meditation for the day:

"God is our refuge and strength." God is a sanctuary, a refuge from the
cares of life. We can get away from the misunderstandings of others by
retiring into our own place of meditation. But from ourselves, from our
sense of failure, our weakness, our shortcomings, where can we flee?
Only to the eternal God, our refuge, until the immensity of God's spirit
envelopes our spirit and it loses its smallness and weakness and comes
into harmony again with God's.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may lose my limitations in the immensity of God's love. I
pray that my spirit may be in harmony with God's spirit.

Greetings to all and praying for healings who all need it! Healings and
strength. We went to Ethel's - and picked up Erma - and wow what a Feast
she made! She made a big turkey because she always like to send food home
with us, and also she can freeze portions for herself. Turkey, Dressing
(stuffed), mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmellows on top
browned, a broccoli, carrot and cauliflower medlley - I want that recipe!!
Lori brought a green bean casserole and I made a boc. caul. salad. After we
ate we called Sister LaDonna, but we all thought it was just a glitch that
our call ended but she called us back. Ethel put the speaker on and we all
could hear her very well and she us. That was so much fun! She had a real
good day today and I hope many more will follow.

Homily of the Day

November 24, 2011

The Only Way to Give Thanks Is to Become a Life-Giver
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Feast of Thanksgiving

Sir 50:22-24 / 1 Cor 1:3-9 / Lk 17:11-19

It’s intriguing to imagine how different each of our lives might be had we
been born in a different century, on a different continent, in an
impoverished country, in the midst of endless wars, in a family that did not
want us, in a place where no education would ever be available, in a state
of chronic bad health. That’s not what happened to us, and why it did not is
a mystery. But one thing we can be sure of is that not one of us earned or
merited a single bit of the good fortune of the lives into which we were
born!

On Thanksgiving Day, perhaps more than any other day of the year, we have a
story that needs to be told, first of all to ourselves, and then to the
Lord. It’s a tale of unearned blessings, especially in the form of good
people who have made our lives so special and so happy.

So let us speak our story without delay, a story of countless good people
each of whom brought their own special gifts of life to us. Let us name each
one with reverence and gratitude to God Who gave them to us as friends and
guides. And when our story is done, one more thing remains: to acknowledge
the debt we owe to all these life-givers. It is nothing less than to become
life-givers ourselves. That’s the only real thanks we can ever give either
to God or to the generations that have gone before us. Let us give it with
all our hearts and with all our might!

Daily Thanksgiving

I thank Thee, Lord, for daily things --
The song a little wild bird sings,
Misty asters on the hills,
Geraniums on windowsills,

For dewdrop jewels angels spill
When dawn is cool and still,
For laughing child and romping pup,
For cold, sweet water in my cup,

First snowdrop, and fall wind's caress,
A friend's warm hand in time of stress,
For work to do, for rain and sun,
And quiet rest when day is done,

For blue woodsmoke and firelit pane,
For surety spring will come again.
For each day's sweets and eyes that see,
Father, I thank You, joyously!

Today I Give Thanks

The one sturdy rose bloom left alone
In a garden where scarlet leaves have blown.
The crisp freshness of the morning air;
The bright gold of mums so fair.
The warm fireside that glows
As outside the North wind blows.
The aroma of turkey, yams, and cakes;
The spicy pumpkin pie that bakes.
The love of family, friends so dear,
The laughter of my children near.
The church's steeple rising high,
The songs we sing, the prayers we sigh.
For all the little things in life,
The Love that overcomes all strife,
These are the things for which I say,
"I thank You," to my Lord today.

If Only Life Could Be Like A Computer...

1. If you messed up your life, you could press "Alt, Ctrl, Delete" and start
all over!

2. To get your daily exercise, just click on "run"!

3. If you needed a break from life, click on "suspend". Hit "any key" to
continue life when ready.

4. To "add/remove" someone in your life, click settings and control panel.

5. To improve your appearance, just adjust the display settings.

6. If life gets too noisy, turn off the speakers.

7. When you lose your car keys, click on "find".

8. "Help" with the chores is just a click away.

9. You wouldn't need auto insurance. You'd use your diskette to recover from
a crash.

10. We could click on "send" and the kids would go to bed immediately.

11. To feel like a new person, click on "refresh".

12. Click on "close" to shut up the kids and spouse.

13. To undo a mistake, click on "back".

14. Is your wardrobe getting old? Click "update".

Good night all and sweet dreams to you and may your Friday be blessed -
Going shopping? Not I.
