OMG, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford! I read the reason they hated each other was because Joan C. had made Bette an "offer" she refused, if you get my drift! Don't know if that's true or not................

There was the decades long grudge between Martin and Lewis. I think they buried the hatchet just before Dean Died. I had also heard about the Bette Davis/Joan Crawford grudge match. I think it was Bette who said after Joan died, "I was told only to speak good of the dead. Joan Crawford dead......good." This may be an urban legend, but it is rather humorous.

PS: I wrote the above before I went to the site and the actual quote showed up. I think of all Bette's comments, this is the funniest.

The two famous sisters, Olivia de Havilland and Joan Fontaine. Too many instances to relate. Rather sad, considering that they were sisters.

Oh yes, how dare we look at a site that has actual quotes documented from the past. We are all terrible, terrible people and should be condemned for eternity by those who have never done anything objectionable in their whole lives. It's just NOT that deep.

But - Dyan Cannon didn't speak highly of him, she seemed very bitter. However, she's the only one I've ever heard speak negatively about him. And she was his ex-wife after all.

I do know there are some whose exes did speak very well of them, but I can't think of any at the moment.

I've always heard that Cary Grant adored his daughter, and I remember seeing a photo of him with her as a baby that was very sweet.

I watched her once on one of the talk shows and she spoke highly of him, (after the divorce) said they had a good relationship and what a wonderful father he was to their daughter.........she did say he was crazy about the child.................................................raven

All I can say about their relationship is that it was kind of a May/December one. Perhaps the age difference was just too great. Besides that, I'm not sure Dyan Cannon was any prize herself.

I remember reading that they had a rocky divorce, mostly on her part. He apparently always tried to appease her, primarily due to the love he had for their little girl. She might have come around and mended fences with him later, as raven's post suggests. Probably good for her career. The only movie I ever saw her in was 'Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice'.

Yes, they definitely had a May/December relationship.

I heard about one that really surprised me . Laurence Olivier an Merle Obermen didn't get along well at all in Wuthering Heights. They sure fooled me! I love that show.

Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer who played Tony and Maria in the West Side Story film didn't get along either. Natalie wanted her then-boyfriend Warren Beatty to play the part and resented that Beymer was cast in the role.
