Forget what you have done for others and remember what they have done for
you.
Lord, a gift is given freely with no expection. May I become a truly giving
person.

Scripture for the day:

"But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my
refuge, to tell of all your works." ~Psalm 73:28

Meditation for the day:

"God is our refuge and underneath are God's everlasting arms."
Sheltering arms express the loving protection of God's spirit. In our
troubles and difficulties, we need nothing so much as a refuge, a place
to relax where we can lay down our burdens and get relief from our
cares. We can say to
ourselves: "God is my refuge." We can say it until its truth sinks into
our very souls. We can say it until we know it and are sure of it.
Nothing can seriously upset us or make us afraid, if God truly is our
refuge.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may go each day to God as a refuge until fear goes and
peace and security come. I pray that I may feel deeply secure in the
haven of God's spirit.

Greetings my friends! Hope everything went your way today. I was on the
phone pretty much today - now Sister LaDonna can use her cell, so she called
me back after a while - I called her at a bad time. She got a belt and she
made a pocket for her cell and has that on her belt so she has it with her
now all the time. We talked mostly on the computer - she's having a hard
time figuring the new one there out for Word and how to get it to an
attachment. She wrote all about her trip on Word and some she'll email out
and some she'll mail out. Yesterday she had a really good day - today was
more pain, but not at all like it used to be. She is so busy there - holy
cow! She is wheeling herself to the computer room, to chapel, to PT, to her
own room downstairs to bring things up, etc. etc. plus she has to do her
exercises 4 times a day. I reported about her to my sisters and I find out
that Deil is in need of prayers, too. She had a bone scan, they found a
cyst on her ovary and a kidney that has to be watched. Oh my! Please help
pray for her healing as well. She never had pain, just was told to get a
bone scan and that's what the doctor saw. Scary how things creep up! Just
think - a week from tomorrow is Thanksgiving! We do thanksgiving here every
day, don't we, giving thanks and showing our gratitude for all of our
blessings day after day!! And we will continue to show our gratitude to Him
from Whom all blessings flow!

He Will Bring You Back Both Breath and Life

2 Mac 7:1, 20-31 / Lk 19:11-28

Fear is one of the greatest adversaries that any of us will ever face. It
steals our peace and our joy, it closes down many roads, and throws up many
walls. Some form of fear is at the root of every sin, and some kind of fear
is behind every failure to live up to our best selves. Fear pretends to be a
protector of life, but in fact it is a friend only of death. Jesus said it
best, “Fear is useless. What is needed is trust.”

Nothing less than monumental trust can explain the confident courage of the
mother of the Maccabees in today’s Old Testament reading. As she watched
each of her seven sons being carried off to a martyr’s death, she was a
tower of strength for them, and like the good mother she was, she explained
to each of them why they had no reason to fear anything, not even death.
“The Creator of the universe who shapes every man’s beginning, as He brings
about the origin of everything, will in His mercy bring you back both breath
and life…” They heard her words, they trusted in their Creator’s love, and
they went to their death in peace.

Many things ever so much smaller than death frighten us and rob us of too
many of our days. The time for that to stop forever is now. We need only
trust in the love of the Creator who made us, and we will be free. Troubles
will inevitably come, sometimes great ones. They may even kill us, but if we
are connected to Him, they will never destroy us. That is God’s promise!

Failure does not equal defeat
Failure does not equal defeat; they are two separate things.

Failure is a part of every life; everyone fails at times.

Defeat is when you don't rebound, but instead allow failure to turn what
could be a successful life into a wasted one through self-pity and fear of
the opinions of men.

Feelings of inferiority are Satan's attempts to deny the power of God within
you.

One good thing about failure is that you appreciate the victory all the
more.

It's not the failing that counts, but what you do with it.

No one has ever made a discovery, won a victory, or had a breakthrough
without first experiencing some failures, yet refusing to let those failures
defeat them.

Failing is often God’s way of helping you to zero in on His highest and
best.

As your own programs crumble into dust, He’s right there with a new
blueprint for something much better.You can fail many times—in different
things—and you will.

But you're not a failure as long as you keep getting up and trying again.

*Always remember that there's a difference between failure, —which happens
many times in our lives, and being a failure —which only happens if we
decide to give up and quit.

There's a big difference between saying "I fail" and "I'm a failure."

There's no disgrace in saying the first—which is just a fact of life—but you
should never say "I'm a failure" unless you've decided to give up.The basic
rules for success may be defined as follows: Know what you want. Find out
what it takes to get it. Act on it and persevere. No one is a failure who
can truly say, "I have done my best."

Doubt versus Faith
Doubt sees the obstacles,
Faith sees the way.

Doubt sees the darkest night,
Faith sees the day.

Doubt dreads to take a step,
Faith soars on high.

Doubt questions, "Who believes?"
Faith answers, "I".
