Found a site that has these . . . available to ship 1/30 . . . but it also comes with some "F" series mixing attachments. I'm guessing these are specially coated or something to work with the glass bowl instead of the metal bowl.

129 is a bit more than I wanted to spend just for the glass bowl but I guess IF I really need the "F" series coated beaters and dough hooks . . . then so be it.

Anyone know why new attachments are necessary? Guess I need to go look at my model number and make sure it is compatible . . . I tried looking at my old order history with the Q as I bought this as a TSV several years ago and my order wasn't there but many other older orders are. Weird. Cuz I'm sure I used e-z pay on a high dollar item just to spread out the cost . . .

I have the glass bowl for my smaller mixer and I never use the darn thing. When they first came out with it, I just had to have it. I was sure I would use it, but I don't. At that expense, I would think long and hard before purchasing something that may just gather dust and waste space.

Do you prefer the metal bowl? Or do you mean you don't use the mixer itself that often either glass or metal?

I've heard that a 6 qt glass bowl is VERY heavy. I'm with Dam Yankee-I am happy with the stainless steel bowl, and the beaters that came with it.

While I'm guessing it is total weight, I just went and looked . . . 8.32 pounds. I'd guess bowl, wire whip, flat beater, dough hook and a lid that appears to be rubber. Probably at least 6 pounds of that being the bowl, maybe slight more.

I just use the stainless bowls. I have two of them. As Lacey said, the glass bowl is very heavy and it's not worth the bother (to me) to pull it out of the cabinet and have to wash the heavy thing.

Awhile back, there was a poster in the Kitchen Forum that stated that she rarely used her glass bowl. She said she wanted it so badly, then when she got it she thought it was heavy. It's nice looking, I'll admit, but I'll stick to my good old stainless steel bowl.

OK, thanks! I am re-thinking this purchase. I really don't NEED it. I just wanted it.

It's nice and the lid is handy, I guess, but it just wasn't a practical purchase (to me). I may have used it twice in 2 years.
