I can't even understand what you mean by pitting. I have had LnL for many years and never any problem like this. I'll be interested to see what folks say about this.

Recently, I put warm to hot food into a bowl, and it left a large pit/rough area in one area. Also, the tabs break off the lids like crazy, but they are still usable.

The OP must be putting them in the microwave. That will pit that kind of plastic. I don't know why the people on QVC recommend using it in the microwave.

I have switched out all of my many, many plastic wear pieces to L&L. I've been using L&L for at least 7 years. I've NEVER experienced any problems I see people here posting. ie pitting, tabs breaking off, discoloring, seal broken. I have probably every piece of L&L that is available and have yet to ever have a problem with them!

I use mine in the microwave....Chris says we can....and it does pit...even though I take the lid off and flip it upside down...also Chris idea....

I haven't had the tabs break off....

I think I learned a lesson and never put my L&L (or any other plastic container) in the microwave...I only use glass to microwave.

In the past, I used another brand of plastic storage that you were supposed to be able to use in the microwave. I did, and they pitted really bad. I think it is from the food cooking on the sides of the container ... how safe can that food be??

I got rid of most of my plastic L&L and now only use the white glass L&L, but I did keep a couple of pieces of the plastic that I have had for years. I just put the really big bowl in the dishwasher (have done this many times) and it came out pitted. I don't know why this suddenly happened, but it is an ugly mess.

Unless the plastic states otherwise, it should only be used in microwaves on 50% power. Pitting means the plastic is breaking down and getting into the food. Hot fat can also pit plastic. I only use Tupperware Vent'n Serve or Ultra Pro in the microwave on full power. Ultra Pro is also oven and fridge/freezer safe.
