Big Lots already in Spring mode?

I couldn't believe Big Lots has not only putting their Valentines Day and St Patricks Day merchandise up but also two aisles of lawn and garden supplies, fertilizers, potting soils etc. Mind you it's 20 degrees and the first mow of the season won't be til April here. These stores have got to carry seasonal merchandise in my opinion not waste shelf space on lawn and garden. Very foolish decision by the store manager. I registered a complaint with the cashier who said she would pass it along.

You seriously complained to the store manager because you feel it is foolish? Seriously?

You do realize that stores like Big Lots put out the merchandise they are sent by corporate. It is not as if they have huge warehouses in the back with the store managers deciding what goes out.

If you do noit wish to buy lawn and garden merchandise now, then do not do it. Others, however, may choose to do so. Where do you get off deciding what should be sold?

I need to go, not everyone lives at the North Pole, even though it has been very cold in the south, I am tired of the winter dull and dreary days .......... we have only had one day of sunshine here the whole year!!! Spring is my favorite season .......... everything dead comes alive again!

What seasonal items did you want to see? I guess what I'm saying is that I would expect to see spring items even though we are still in a deep freeze where I live. Hardly worth voicing a complaint.

I say bring on the Spring merchandise! I'm not a fan of winter and love to have spring and summer to look forward to.

It's called marketing.

Those who do their Christmas shopping in July would not be happy if they could not buy Valentines and St. Patrick's merchandise now.

Actually, I saw Valentine's Day items starting to be displayed before Christmas. It doesn't bother me much.

Christmas is over, spring is the next big season. Valentine's, St Patrick's and Easter are pre spring.

Well, when the o/p owns a store, she can run it as she sees fit. Let's see just how successful it would be.

Until then, the head honchos at corporate decide what is put out on the shelf and when.

The world does not revolve around what the o/p wants.

Sorry if that shocking fact upsets her, but that's just the way retail is.

If she doesn't like it, then, as I said, she can open her own retail shop, and run it exactly the way she likes. Until then, deal with it.

I think valentines have been put out on Christmas Eve for a long long time. Seed catalogs have already been in the mail. Op if you think the cashier and manager don't get a laugh over your complaint you've never worked in a store. I'm ready for Reese s Easter eggs and I'm sure there out somewhere I think people plant their tomato seeds indoor now so they need that potting soil

I'm sure that not only did they get a huge belly laugh out of it, that afterwards, they just crumpled it up and threw it away in the garbage.

I was in our Big Lots yesterday and they still had some Christmas items on sale!

I enjoyed browsing the Spring items, didn't have enough Valentine's things, but had some nice Easter items!

Reever, are you serious????? You actually registered a complaint because Big Lots had 2 aisles of Spring merchandise out....seriously???? My goodness I'm just sitting her chuckling and shaking my head.

Stores are usually always about 2 or 3 months ahead of the season.
