Welcome November and the season of Thanksgiving.

I'd like to think I'm a thankful person all year long, however as I looked out of my kitchen window this morning to see little birds venturing out to get their breakfast seed I thought - wow, I'm so lucky to have birds that stick around through the fall and winter season. I work in a downtown area and noticed seagulls flying around as I was exiting the freeway. I wondered if they migrate somewhere and when that happens. I'm on the 18th floor of an office building (near a window) and my attention is often drawn to some large birds that fly by the windows like bats out of you know where.

I've been trying for 6 months to get a good look at them so I could see what they are. I'd say they're about the size of a hawk, but unlike the sharp shinned hawks that hunt in my area around my house. I've chased hawks out of my yard umpteen times so I'd think I'd recognize one flying by .

I guess I just admire a bird's fortitude. Michigan winters get ugly and yet the birds, especially all of the little ones, manage to make it through to the spring.

Well, enough of my rambling, I've got to get back to work .
