Are you a Facebook Spy?

Do you find yourself spying on other peoples facebook page? Its an awful habit and I know people do it. Some live through other peoples pages. I really think facebook and this other social media junk has ruined peoples self esteem,personal relations skills , and so much more. I do not participate but I know people I work with are always spying on others..I find it so intrusive!

The problem with America is that they believe every living soul is on FB. They're not. And for those who are on FB, their posts are always the truth!? How could it be otherwise? Certainly no one would lie!!

Many people have nothing to do with their spare time. And come to work the next day to tell you what they did since they had nothing to do.

So when you eavesdrop on what they have to say, include yourself with those who have nothing to do.

"Spying"? The only thing that might be considered spying is if you are still "Friended" by someone you once considered a friend but no longer do, i.e. you now don't like them or you wish them ill, or will attempt to use "information" to do them ill.

Any intelligent human being knows how to keep non-friends out of their FB if they choose to do so. If it is their choice to let anyone and everyone read whatever they feel like posting, it's either their ego speaking, or in the case of celebrities, a deliberate action to gain publicity. I don't see how this is any different on FB than it would be watching TMZ or ET or reading The Star. It's put out there to entertain people in one way or another.

And to make some people feel superior to others. *cough*

I don't really understand why anyone would think they're "spying" on Facebook.

With the proper privacy settings, only those who are our "friends" can see what we post.

The answer on social media is always the same: If you don't want people to know about it, don't post it.

Spying? How is it spying if someone chooses to read stuff other people post on Facebook? Facebook is kind of like a "personal newspaper". Each FB user decides what he/she wants to publish about him/herself, and decides who gets access to their news. If you can access it, you're either their FB friend or they're putting it out there for the whole world to read. In either case, why not read it if you want to?

OMG... DD posts EVERYTHING on FB... so do our nieces and nephews! It's getting better, but things such as "today I had this at so and so restaurant" (picture shown) were commonplace... and she has thousands of "friends!" ROTFL

If you are checking out "friends" pages, it is certainly not "spying", and after all, some people you do not know personally, maybe using fake names and are not who they say they are ..... imagine that!

This is a typical post from someone who isn't on Facebook and clearly does not understand how it works. If you are on FB there are "privacy" settings and you can set them so that no one but your own "friends" can see what's on your page. So no "spying" is possible. Now even with that being said, there is a possibility that one of your FB friends could share one of your posts and that would allow her friends to see it also. But they still could not "spy" on your page and see everything. Personally, I have only real friends and family as my FB "friends" (some people, especially younger ones, will "friend" anyone who sends them a request) so I know how they handle being on the site and so far have had no issues with any of them.

I'm not sure what would constitute spying either but, during the time I had a Facebook account (I didn't stick around too long - it was too, well let's just say it wasn't for me) I remember somebody saying (about one of our mutual friends) 'You should look for his pictures. He has some pictures on his Facebook account'. I just felt really creepy about that. I guess I'm just not very nosey.

It's probably been 2-3 years since I left Facebook and I've never had any desire to go back. I'm not dogging others for using it, of course. It just wasn't for me.
