Others can not make you angry or upset unless you give them this power.
Lord, strengthen my ability to know that how I feel is my choice and help
me respond in ways that make me a happier person.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may
have life, and have it abundantly." ~John 10:10

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

We can have life and have it more abundantly--spiritual, mental, physical,
abundant life--joyous, powerful life. These we can have if we follow the
right way. Not all people will accept from God the gift of an abundant
life, a gift held out free to all. Not all people care to stretch out a
hand and take it. God's gift, the richest God has to offer, is the precious
gift of abundant life. People often turn away from it, reject it, and will
have none of it. We need not let this be true of us.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may hasten to accept the gift of abundant spiritual life. I
pray that I may live the good life to the best of my ability.

Hello my friends! Hope your day went well and you found lots of blessings!
Today I went to the chiro, Dr. Mike, for my back, I needed the adjustment,
but it was still sore and so I put heat on it and that seems to help. It's
ok - I can tolerate it without pain pills, and it'll vanish soon, I know,
from past experience. Just a flare up that happens sometimes. I haven't
heard anything new yet from or about Sister LaDonna since she's moved back
to the Motherhouse. My sister, Ethel, and I both think that she's in too
much pain to call us - that the move was hard on her and made the pain
worse. She told Ethel she would call and let her know her new number there,
so we just have to be patient and wait. Thanks all for your prayers for
her.
Patience is a virture, and it's hard to to have patience, especially waiting
so long - but we'll go see her on Sunday. She knows we're coming. Alll we
can do now is continuing our prayers for her healing. And we gather
together here in this thread and pray for her quick recovery, along with all
of your intentions - with Jesus right here in our midst as He has promised
and we trust in His word. We ask this in Jesus' Name, and we ask Mary, our
Blessed Mother, His Mother and ours, to intercede for us and we know she is.
No prayer is ever wasted, all are heard and answered according to God's
Will, and we know that His Will is the best for us.

The Most Selfish One-Letter Word
"I"
Avoid It

The Most Satisfying Two-Letter Word
"WE"
Use It

The Most Poisonous Three-Letter Word
"EGO"
Kill It

The Most Used Four-Letter Word
"LOVE"
Value It

The Most Pleasing Five Letter Word
"SMILE"
Keep It

The Fastest Spreading Six-Letter Word
"RUMOUR"
Ignore It

The Hardest Working Seven Letter Word
"SUCCESS"
Achieve It

The Most Enviable Eight-Letter Word
"JEALOUSY"
Distance It

The Most Powerful Nine-Letter Word
"KNOWLEDGE"
Acquire It

The Most Essential Ten-Letter Word
"CONFIDENCE"
Trust It

Author Unknown

Teach me to forgive

One day a while back, a man, his heart heavy with grief, was walking in
the woods. As he thought about his life this day, he knew many things were
not right. He thought about those who had lied about him back when he had
a job.

His thoughts turned to those who had stolen his things and cheated him. He
remembered family that had passed on. His mind turned to the illness he had
that no one could cure. His very soul was filled with anger, resentment
and frustration.
Standing there this day, searching for answers he could not find, knowing
all else had failed him, he knelt at the base of> an old oak tree to seek
the one he knew would always be there, and with tears in his eyes, he
prayed

"Lord- You have done wonderful things for me in this life. You have told
me to do many things for you, and I happily obeyed. Today, you have told
me to forgive. I am sad, Lord, because I cannot. I don't know how. It is
not fair Lord. I didn't deserve these wrongs that were done against me
and I shouldn't have to forgive. As perfect as your way is Lord, this one
thing I cannot do, for I don't know how to forgive. My anger is so deep
Lord,
I fear I may not hear you, but I pray that you teach me to do this one thing
I cannot do - Teach me To Forgive.

As he knelt there in the quiet shade of that old oak tree, he felt
something fall onto his shoulder. He opened his eyes. Out of the corner of
one eye, he saw something red on his shirt. He could not turn to see what
it was because where the oak tree had been was a large square piece of
wood in the ground. He raised his head and saw two feet held to the wood
with a large spike through them. He raised his head more, and tears came
to his eyes as he saw Jesus hanging on a cross. He saw spikes in His
hands, a gash in His side, a torn and battered body, deep thorns sunk into
His head. Finally he saw the suffering and pain on His precious face. As
their eyes met, the man's tears turned to sobbing, and Jesus began to
speak.

Have you ever told a lie, he asked?
The man answered - yes Lord.

Have you ever been given too much change and kept it?
The man answered yes Lord. And the man sobbed more and more.

Have you ever taken something from work that wasn't yours, Jesus asked?
And the man answered yes Lord.

Have you ever sworn, using my Father's name in vain?
The man, crying now, answered yes Lord.

As Jesus asked many more times, "Have you ever"? The man's crying became
uncontrollable, for he could only answer yes Lord.

Then Jesus turned His head from one side to the other, and the man felt
something fall on his other shoulder. He looked and saw that it was the
blood of Jesus. When he looked back up, his eyes met those of Jesus, and
there was a look of love the man had never seen or known before. Jesus
said, I didn't deserve this either, but I forgive you.

It may be hard to see how you're going to get through something, but when
you look back in life, you realize how true this statement is. Read the
first line slowly and let it sink in. This is simple, and important. Read
on....This first line is deep.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it. Lord I love You
and I need You, come into my heart, Today. For without You I can do
nothing.

God bless you.

Someone Else

Our church was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most
valued members, Someone Else. Someone's passing creates a vacancy that will
be difficult to fill. Else has been with us for many years and for every one
of those years, Someone did far more than a normal person's share of the
work.

Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach, or a meeting to attend,
one name was on everyone's list, "Let Someone Else do it." Whenever
leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for
inspiration as well as results; "Someone Else can work with that group." It
was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the most liberal givers in
our church. Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed
Someone Else would make up the difference.

Someone Else was a wonderful person; sometimes appearing superhuman. Were
the truth known, everybody expected too much of Someone Else. Now Someone
Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do.

Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow
it? Who is going to do the things Someone Else did? When you are asked to
help this year, remember - we can't depend on "Someone Else" anymore.

Author Unknown

Homily of the Day

How Strong Is Your Bond with Christ?
by Monsignor Dennis Clark, Ph.D.

Rom 8:31-39 / Lk 13:31-35

St. Paul poses an interesting and crucial question in today’s Epistle to the
Romans. “Who can separate us from the love of Christ?” Nothing should, but
lots of things do. There are many people in every parish who at one time in
their lives were active in their faith, but walked away when some tragedy,
like the loss of a loved one, struck and they never forgave God for failing
to protect them. There are plenty of people who didn’t deliberately walk
away from the Lord, but just wandered away distractedly and barely even
noticed it themselves. And, of course, there are always those who can’t face
the Lord because they know that some part of their lifestyle is at grave
odds with the love of the Lord.

The list could go on and on, but the message for us should be to look again
at our own relationship with Christ and ask honestly how deep are the roots
of the friendship. Is it just a casual acquaintance or a bond with real
muscle? What kind of candidate are we for early departure from this most
important of all our bonds? It may be that we have some work to do and that
a bond that’s just a matter of habit needs to become a matter of profound
conviction and attachment. Now’s the time to find out, while there’s still
time.

Dear Lord,

Even though I clutch my blanket and growl when the alarm rings,
thank you, Lord, that I can hear. There are many that are deaf.

Even though I keep my eyes closed against the morning light as long as
possible,
thank you, Lord, that I can see. Many are blind.

Even though I huddle in my bed and put off rising,
thank you, Lord, that I have the strength to rise. There are many that are
bedridden.

Even though the first hour of my day is hectic, when socks are lost, toast
is burned and tempers are short, my family are so loud,
thank you, Lord, for my family. There are many that are lonely.

Even though our breakfast table never looks like the pictures in magazines
and the menu is at times unbalanced,
thank you, Lord, for the food we have. There are many that are hungry.

Even though the routine of my job often is monotonous,
thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work. There are many that have no
job.

Even though I grumble and bemoan my fate from day to day and wish my
circumstances were not so modest,
thank you Lord, for life!

May I always thank you Lord. Amen

This prayer, if not praying for yourself, put your loved one's name in here
as I'm praying this for Sister LaDonna:

PRAYER FOR HEALTH & HEALING
Dear Jesus, You who have seen the suffering of All humankind, and who
suffered the indignities and pain of a cruel crucifixion, have mercy on me.
Help me, for the greater glory of Your Father in Heaven, to recover from my
distress. Give my doctors the wisdom to use the resources within their
power to heal me, and comfort my family in their empathy for me.

Restore me to health, dear Lord, so that I may honor You in all I say and
do. I ask this in Your name, my Lord and savior, and Your humble servant,
St. Anthony of Padua, The Miracle Worker. AMEN.

Good night all and sweet dreams! May you all receive a bunch of blessings
tomorrow - and know that I'm praying for you all. All who read this and not
post and all who post! God knows who you are and what your needs are.

It
was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the most liberal givers in
