Amazon is just AMAZING

I ordered a last minute Vtech Item for my young grandson on Saturday late afternoon. It was a gift from another out of state family member..that I thought I had already ordered when in fact I ordered my other grandson the Firehouse and forgot the Car Carrier.

I figured it if it came on time..if it didn't no biggie..In additioin to being about much more cheaper on Amazon (between $5 and $8 depending on where)...it arrived just now!!

i ordered my grandson the vtech transformer type dinosaurs, that change to vehicles. he loves them. amazon shipping was super and good price.

I am not in love with Amazon right now -- ordered 2 items on the 14th!! It qualified for free shipping and I expected them to ship so they would be here for Christmas.

A few days later I noticed that the price had dropped on BOTH items and I contacted them to give me the price difference as a refund. I was told it wouldn't happen until the items had shipped. Now as of today-- one of those items is preparing to ship!! The other won't ship probably until after Christmas!

So Amazon is not as great in my book this year re: their policies.

I was complaining about Amazon on another thread because my Prime eligible items were showing delivery dates 4, 5, and 6 days out. Well... they were all here in 2 days. Sorry Amazon.

I love Amazon, too, but I have a question about it that I have yet to figure out on my own.

How can you tell where a vendor is shipping their item from? I know that some vendors have information available about them that you can click on from the product page. Many vendors do not, at least not as far as I can tell. A couple of times I have ordered something that was, unbeknownst to me, shipped from China. I don't have a problem with that other than I like to know when something is going to arrive as I often choose gifts from Amazon.

Can anyone help me? TIA.

I recently ordered an item, and it was delivered the next day. I think there is a warehouse nearby. Gotta watch the prices tho'. I ordered something for $15 which is $5 on another site (plus shipping)--but I need the item by Christmas so bought from Amazon at the higher price and fast shipping.

I ordered a craft kit for my niece as part of her Christmas gift. When I went to wrap it, I noticed it had been opened and scotch taped back up. There was even hair stuck in the tape. Yuck. I contacted Amazon, they refunded me immediately and didn't make me return the item, as so many other businesses would. Amazon Prime is the BEST investment - totally worth it.

Good question. I don't like what I've read about how Amazon treats its vendors, so I don't buy Amazon unless what I want is actually coming from Amazon.

I'm just completing a year on Prime. I now know as I had suspected that it doesn't pay for me. I don't care about the TV and music stuff. I can get my books cheaper elsewhere and I don't need to buy so much that I need to give them $99 up front now. The way I buy, that would be about $10 each item (or more) for shipping and handling. Not cheap at all. I think they depend upon people like me not canceling memberships once they start, but I'm out! Can always rejoin if for some reason I need to.

We're Prime, @ half price with an .edu email address . . . so usually 98% of what we order is 2 day delivery . . . but when it isn't . . . seems when you go to check out there is an estimated delivery date / time frame specified . . . and you select the shipping, usually free and I think it has 2-7 days or sometimes maybe it gives specific dates. Does that help a little? Without going through the steps to order something that is how I recall . . . but again we do Prime most of the time.

I like Amazon too. I find myself going there to look for items instead of hunting for them in stores. They seem to have everything! Just recently my pharmacy told me they no longer carry sterile saline vials that you use in nebulizer to loosen congestion. Low and behold, Amazon had them.

Thanks, Qwackertoo, I do Prime whenever I can, but occcasionally have had something ship from overseas.
