I hope this isn't true. If it is then Mayweather has a lot to answer for.

Floyd Mayweather whipped his friend Earl Hayes into a frenzy over his wife's infidelity ... to the point Hayes gunned her down ... and now the LAPD wants to sit the boxer down for questioning ... multiple sources tell TMZ.

TMZ broke the story ... Floyd was on FaceTime with his rapper friend Monday morning when the shots were fired. Now we're told, Floyd was telling Hayes he should leave his wife, Stephanie Moseley -- a well-known backup dancer and star of VH1's "Hit the Floor" -- because she was bad for his career.

As we reported, Hayes was distraught over what he believed was repeated infidelity, including a fling he said Stephanie had with Trey Songz.

One Mayweather source says Floyd challenged Hayes, saying he was weak for not leaving her.

At that point, as Floyd was on FaceTime, Hayes went off and said he was going to gun down Stephanie. We're told when the boxer realized Hayes was going to shoot Stephanie, he begged Hayes not to go through with it.

Our law enforcement sources say Hayes went into the bathroom and fired 10 to 12 shots as Stephanie was taking a bath. We're told she was hit multiple times.

Neighbors who heard the shots called the LAPD and cops rushed to the scene, but when they got to the door they heard another shot and retreated. That shot was Hayes taking his own life.

The SWAT team showed up and broke down the door. Cops found Stephanie's body in the bathtub and Hayes was in the bedroom.

We're now told the LAPD wants to interview Floyd ... presumably because he was a witness to the murder-suicide.

Some friends try to build you up and help when you are ranting and venting about something. If this is true, he probably didn't know how volatile his friend could be. We all say things in anger that most would not act on...some do. Sad situation for all.

Floyd Mayweather didn't tell the guy to SHOOT his wife...he told him to LEAVE his wife.

If a friend called you and was railing on about his/her spouse constantly cheating on him/her, I don't know of a single person who wouldn't eventually say, "Hey, why do you stay with this louse? Get some backbone and leave the B---." It doesn't mean that you intentionally whipped that person into a frenzy to go KILL the person!

It's a sad story, but an age-old common one: A constantly cheating spouse, an infuriated cheated-upon spouse, and a gun. No surprise at the outcome.

According to KTLA news a neighbor heard screams and shots and called 911. I'm wondering why Mayweather didn't make that call as soon as Hayes threatened his wife. Maybe he was trying to get Hayes to listen to him and didn't think of it.

Personally if a friend confided all of his/her troubles to me I would tell him/her to get counseling.

ETA Hayes is the son of singer/songwriter Isaac Hayes.

No one knows that he was "obviously" a loose cannon or deranged before the call....if he's never shown to be that, how would his friend know?? I didn't read anywhere that he was considered a loose cannon or deranged.

TMZ reported that he was "distraught over what he believed was repeated infidelity". Distraught is much different than "loose cannon" or "deranged."

Many posters have posted complaints on this BB about how their spouse or family members treat them. Many responders tell the person to: grow a pair/get a backbone and leave the spouse; confront the family member about their disrespect and not "be a rug," etc. If the poster reads those responses and then gets so worked up that they shoot the offending party, should the posters be held responsible for?

The only time FM realized that his friend was "deranged" was when he said he was going to get a gun and shoot his wife. At that point, FM begged him not to. Up until then, he probably sounded only distraught / very upset, but that wouldn't be unusual.

I don't know anything about wearing a t-shirt, so I don't know how to respond to that.

They were supposed to be very close. And even if they weren't to hear/see a murder-suicide would be devastating to most people.

He probably needed to focus on something else. This was a horrible experience for him. He is the sole survivor of the tragedy.

How would TMZ know exactly what the phone conversation was and what Mayweather said or didn't say? How would "sources" know what was being said for sure? Was somebody tapping the phone?

Very sad, tragic sequence of events in any event.
