Explain EVINE to me?

I have looked it up online but don't 'get' what this Kathy Levine spin-off is. Can someone explain? Thanks to you :-)

It's not a Kathy Levine spin off. They are changing the name but it has nothing to do with her. They haven't explained the name. Kathy will do occasional reports on merchandise found on some of her travels. There's a film clip on one of the threads that explains it all. She won't be a host.

No one can.....so far, all they've done is talk in vague terms. It does seem like they would like to be the shopping channel for senior ladies whose needs arent being served by Hsn and Qvc. The "remember when" ladies who miss "the old Qvc".

Given the possible 'play in name', my first thought was she was more involved than having a show here & there. I immediately checked to see if she wasn't part of management....Nope. Weird, but I thought maybe she...and this is stretching it...maybe acquired the network. Or at least on some level.

Apparently the "evine" and Levine" similarity is just coincidental. According to industry reporting:

"When chief executive Mark Bozek and the directors of ValueVision Media Inc. took over after a lengthy proxy fight that ended in June, it was with the idea the company needed to develop proprietary brands if it wanted to elevate itself from a distant third place among home shopping networks.They’ve decided that a new company name is key to jump-starting that process. ValueVision Media, which operates the home shopping network ShopHQ, is changing its corporate name to Evine Live to reflect its transition into more of a comprehensive digital commerce company."

Kathy is going to be somewhat of a "roving reporter" type of buyer. Her love of travel, and her and her husband's many, many trips all over have allowed her to expound on her favorite hobby of purchasing things from around the world that she thinks are "on trend" , collectible, or great "must have's". So she will be bringing these to the old SHOPHQ station, and discussing them as they transition and continue on as Evine Live. Sometimes she will be on air promoting these items, and sometimes she won't. But she is their procurer of these items she has found and already lined up with them, and she will continue to be a she continues to travel all over.

The name EVINE is TOTALLY coincidental, and that has been explained too much by the President and CEO of SHOP HQ. It was developed before Kathy, and she too said so. It just happens to match her name, but has nothing to do with her. I don't know why you people are so narrow minded.

Everyone has explained it, but you insist on a conspiracy theory. So go off and be skeptical. Don't believe the truth when the sources are hawking it in your face.

Personally, I think they should just leave the name alone. Just don't like EVINE
