Just saw this. A cable failure and about 1,000 sites without power.

Our country's power grid is way too vulnerable.

Wow, did I sound over dramatic when I said people STUCK in over 100 buildings. I should have said over 100 buildings have lost power and some people are stuck in elavators.

Isn't it Detroit that has had such a hard time with power for quite awhile? People unable to afford the high cost with lots of disconnects?

As if they needed this, too.

Looks like it's mostly government buildings. Did they forget to pay the schools electic bills?

Did they give an estimate of when they can get the power going? It's going to be scary when night falls, as this is a dangerous place and the criminal element will likely exploit the emergency. I hope no one is killed as a result of this. Maybe they'll get the lights back on before darkness. I'd be afraid to be in any major city in this situation, as a city is simply not the same as a smaller city/town.

I was thinking about the people who live there. Does it only affect office buildings?
