Hi Everyone,

I have a cat who is now being recommended to be put on a renal diet. The vet prescribed me Hill's K/d, which I bought, against my instincts, because I wanted to start her on something for her needs. In my search, I'm finding that the best type of diet is one that contains raw food. There seems to be a controversy, these diets that vets recommen almost eliminate the protein, but cats need protein. I guess it's quality, not quantity? Do any of you feed your kitty a raw food diet? What is the best way of introducing this kind of diet? I read somewhere to boil the food, not all the way, until she's on it totally. Some websites I've read suggested mixing it with the commercial food that she's so accustomed to, to wean her off the commercial food. My cat will be 19 next month. I will definitely be talking to the vet about this, when I take her for her visit next month. Any suggestions, information, and experiences is highly appreciated. Also, for those who do feed their cats a raw food diet, how does your cat get his/her recommended nutrients? I also read that cat's can eat chicken bone, as long as it's raw, and that naturally cleans their teeth?!

Thanks from me and my kitty.

Anna and Amber

PS. If anyone knows a kind of commericial food that is healthy for her her needs that contain no by-products, fillers, and is made in USA, please let me know that, too. I'll even take websites and community websites so I can chat with others on this issue. Thanks.
