Forgiveness frees the heart and moves us from the victim to the one who
is in control of our lives. Lord, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us.

Scripture for the day:

"For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their
life?" ~Matthew 16:26

Meditation for the day:

It is the quality of my life that determines its value to those around me.
In order to judge the value of a person's life, we can set up a standard.
The most valuable life is one of honesty, purity, unselfishness and love.
All our lives can be measured against this standard in determining their
value to the world. by this standard, most of the so-called heroes of
history were not great people. "For what will it profit them if they gain
the whole world but forfeit their life?"

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may be honest, pure, unselfish and loving. I pray that I may
make the quality of my life good by these standards.

Hello my friends! Hope you all had a good day today! For me it was just an
ordinary day, except that I made supper with everything from our garden
except the meat which he grilled. Fresh green beans and carrots just dug
out, I cooked, sliced potatoes freshly dug out, into french fries and he
grilled them like he always does the sweet potato fries. Everything was
very delicious! We have tomatoes too to eat, and cukes. Still raspberries.
My Classmate friend, Angie, is coming over for the weekend - looking forward
to seeing her. I called her today - so nice visiting with her on the phone.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Dreaming a New Future

God dreamt of a new future for humanity
and paid the price for it
by taking on himself the debt we owed.
We can create a new future by dreaming of the Kingdom,
by imagining new ways to overcome hatred
and violence with the tenderness of love.

from The Journey Within: Prayer as a Path to God

Mother Teresa Said...

"To children and to the poor, to all those who suffer and are lonely --
give them always a happy smile, give them not only your care
but also your heart."

PERSPECTIVES!
Author Unknown

One day, a financially comfortable father decided to take his son to
the country, with the purpose of showing him how poor people live, and
that the son could understand the value of things, and realize how
fortunate they were.

They stayed overnight at a very humble family's farm for 1 day and 1
night. As the trip ended, and during their return home, the father
asks his son:

So what did you think of the trip?

It was great, dad!

Did you see how poor and needy some people have to live?

Yes!

And what did you learn?

I saw that we have one dog in the house, but they have four. We have a
huge swimming pool, but they have a river that never ever ends. We
have imported lamps in the patio, they have the stars. Our backyard
ends at the fence, but theirs goes on and on into the horizon.
Especially though, dad, I saw that they have time to talk to each
other and live as a family. You and Mom have to work all day, and I
hardly see you both!

As the conversation ended, the father remained silent, and his son
added: Thanks Dad, for showing me how rich we could be!!

1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING...
But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning
your response. Just listening.

2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds.
Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and
friends.

3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...
Funny pictures. Share articles, funny stories and funny greetings .
Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief,
handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a
life.

5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT...
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job" or
"That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR...
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
Helping elderly cross the road can be nice.

7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be
sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION...
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really
it's not that hard to say,
Hello or Thank You.

IMAGINE HEARING THIS
Author Unknown
August 31, 2011

Imagine praying and hearing this:

"Thank you for calling My Father's House. Please select one of the
following four options:

* Press 1 for requests.

* Press 2 for thanksgiving.

* Press 3 for complaints.

* For all other inquiries, Press 4."

What if God used the familiar excuse:

"All of the angels are helping other customers right now. Please stay
on the line. Your call will be answered in the order it was received."

Can you imagine getting these kinds of responses as you call on God
in prayer?

* "If you'd like to speak with Gabriel, press 1.

* For Michael, press 2.

* For any other angel, press 3."

* "If you want King David to sing you a psalm, press 6."

"For reservations at My Father's House, simply press the letters J-O-
H-N on the keypad, followed by the number 3-1-6."

"For answers to nagging questions about dinosaurs, the age of the
earth and where Noah's ark is, wait until you get here!"

"Our computers show that you have called once today already. Please
hang up immediately."

"This office is closed for the weekend. Please call again Monday."

End of message.

Thank God, you can't call Him too often!!! You only need to ring once
and God hears you. Because of Jesus, you never get a busy signal. God
takes each call and knows each caller personally. When you call and
the Lord will
answer; you will cry for help and He will say: "Here am I."

And when you call: Emergency Phone Numbers

* When in sorrow, call John 14

* When men fail you, call Psalm 27

* If you want to be fruitful, call John 15

* When you have sinned, call Psalm 51

* When you worry, call Matthew 6:19-34

* When you are in danger, call Psalm 91

* When God seems far away, call Psalm 139

* When your faith needs stirring, call Hebrews 11

* When you are lonely and fearful, call Psalm 23

* When you grow bitter and critical, call 1 Cor. 13

* For Paul's secret to happiness, call Col. 3:12-17

* For idea of Christianity, call 1 Cor. 5:15-19

* When you feel down and out, call Romans 8:31-39

* When you want peace and rest, call Matt. 11:25-30

* When the world seems bigger than God, call Psalm 90

* When you want Christian assurance, call Romans 8:1-30

* When you leave home for labor or travel, call Psalm 121

* When your prayers grow narrow or selfish, call Psalm 67

* For a great invention/opportunity, call Isaiah 55

* When you want courage for a task, call Joshua 1

* How to get along with fellowmen, call Romans 12

* When you think of investments/returns, call Mark 10

* If you are depressed, call Psalm 27

* If your pocketbook is empty, call Psalm 37

* If you're losing confidence in people, call 1 Cor. 13

* If people seem unkind, call John 15

* If discouraged about your work, call Psalm 126

* If you find the world growing small, and yourself great, call Psalm
19

Emergency numbers may be dialed direct.
