I just don't get it.

One thread that gets just a little argumentative about a topic, of all things, autoimmune disease, and gets closed down.

Another thread that is clearly political and about a hideous topic, and is still humming along.

Ford, there is no rhyme or reason why certain topics stay. It's why I limit my posting here. There's a thread on Viewpoints where someone is denigrating feminists and it burns me to the core, but I just sit on my hands because people like that are set in their ways and voicing my opinion is useless. Yet that OP's threads are left to stand and clearly they are inflammatory and purposely designed to stir.

Hi, Ford! At the risk of being told I'm lecturing . . . I know it's frustrating but I've come to the conclusion we have to see each thread/post as something ephemeral. I've learned the hard way if a thread has some information I want/need to keep for future reference (health info, etc.), I make a quick copy in case the whole thing gets zapped. The moderation here never will improve, and (in my opinion) it's obviously heavily influenced by the bias of the moderator(s) on duty at any given time.

I was in that thread at one point (didn't know it was deleted, though) but then it went sideways and that's when I just leave the thread. It's too bad, as for a little while it was about ONE THING and it was a good conversation.

That's one irritating thing about this board - nothing can ever be just about what it's about. It always has to become about all kinds of other things. That's usually when threads go south and become unbearable.

Actually the t-shirt thread started out with a slam about the thread on the very first post and then along came a member of the grammar police. So.............the feminist remark was later on.

I do that also dooB. I have copied many threads into my journals because they were too informative and interesting to lose.

You're welcome! I agree with other posts -- don't hesitate to speak up. That particular poster only comes to childishly incite and inflame (yep, just my opinion -- based on several years of seeing her posts under her myriad of nicknames), but by expressing our views on the threads we at least are able to see the "other side" presented.

The time I got banned (for a day) I said one innocuous slightly political thing in a thread that had just started and the thread was poofed and I was banned . . . WHAMMO! Just like that!!

ETA: Oh, and the word that was used in that thread (not by me) is the subject matter of the thread that still exists to this minute.
