Please pray for RS because he is in hiding and needs a second knee surgery but doesn't want to get it. He hasn't been seen in public since January 11. He needs our prayers.

Yes at home. If you go to TMZ they have a story on him. The news cast today says he hasn't been seen publicly due to depression.

Thanks, OP for sharing the info. He seemed like such a genuine person; one of my friends who is a bear artist met him IRL; she said he was a very nice and caring person.

The article I read didn't make sound like he is hiding, just that he has been sidelined at home with his bum knee.

"... Relax, says Simmons. He's OK, not depressed, just a little sad.

He's been sidelined with a knee injury for the past several months, said his longtime manager, Michael Catalano.

"I am so touched by the outpouring of love and concern I have received today," Simmons said in a statement via Catalano. "I have had a tough time dealing with this injury, as it is keeping me from doing what I truly love to do and that is to teach classes around the world. I know I will see you all soon!"

Meanwhile, Simmons' Twitter feed continued to pump out workout advice..."

I saw him on Marie Osmond's talk show once and he started crying several times.. He really is a depressed man. It's sad.

I heard he needs a knee replacement but is scared of having surgery. If he's depressed and can't move around much, I wonder if he has gained weight and is too embarrassed to be seen by the public?

There are many people like him (and like Robin Williams was) who are so upbeat and funny with others but hold a lot of pain inside. I hope he is better soon.

Absolutely agree. He is obviously an emotional person, and however anyone does or doesn't express emotions, everyone needs a little kindness and support at one time or another. Thoughts and blessings to him!

I read that story, he's in some sort of trouble or distress but I don't think it has anything at all to do with knee problems. I remember seeing him on JTV about a year ago and I was heart broken. He was weepy and "out of it" and obviously deeply depressed. It was obvious that he was suffering with some sort of emotional problem or a mental problem. Now that the story is out, I do hope and pray that people who are close to him, who care about him can convince him to get the help that he so obviously needs. This might sound silly but I purchased a lovely ring and the matching pendant when he was on JTV. I can't wear it because when I look at it, it makes remember the state Richard was in when he did that show. And that just makes me so sad. Many years ago, when I was terribly overweight and so scared because I knew I had to do something about it but I didn't know what to do; Richard Simmons was an inspiration to me. He was so happy and vibrant and successful and living proof that a person could rebound from obesity. Even after I had weight loss surgery, my Richard Simmons "Dancing with the Oldies" tapes helped me with the exersize part of my program.
