I know this is O/T but it gets more hits over here. I am making my normal desserts for Thanksgiving but I have a couple of people coming that love chocolate and caramel so I am making this. What do you think? The video is only a few minutes, and I thought this looked pretty good.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/videos/chocolate-caramel-salted-tart-0176103.html

A nice simple chocolate mousse would be divine after a big dinner. If you want to make it more elaborate and attractive, use mousse in a Death by Chocolate recipe, layered in a glass compote.

It looks like a very rich dessert. After a heavy Thanksgiving meal, I tend to opt for lighter (not in calories) desserts. What about some sort of chocolate mousse torte? Whip cream seems to make a dessert feel lighter.

This is a very easy no bake dessert. Ina's Micha Icebox cake. I used lady fingers (Italalian crispy) instead of cookies since that was what I had on hand. I did a quick dip in coffee ala tiramisu. Easy and light.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/mocha-chocolate-icebox-cake-recipe.html

Thanks everyone. We have about 12-13 desserts so far as I am making some, my daughter is (and her husbands awesome cheesecake), my aunt is making some. This would definitely be the most decadent of the bunch.

Noel, I am doing ok. I am feeling a little down and sorry for myself. I know it is only temporary but I feel at 44, I feel so old and weak. I have friends coming down from Buffalo for a couple of days on Thursday and a bunch of people coming from all over for Thanksgiving and I feel just a bit overwhelmed. I spent the whole day cleaning with bleach after reading the CDC' cleaning instructions for cleaning with C Diff spores. I had a good cry and that helped.

I love that pumpkin pie ice cream. Haven't tried the pecan one.

We usually make a lot because we have a lot of people coming and I have about 4 staying at my house. So everything gets eaten. Wow, your mom sounded like quite a cook.

Did you have the bump because of the silicone do you think? If so stop use and see how it goes or if you can use it on other areas. I do know some people have reactions to silicone but of all the bases that is usually the one that the largest amount of people can tolerate. I know it is tempting to use more, I do that too. With stuff like this, less is better though. Let me know how it goes Qwacker!! Have a good night!

Ina's Micha Icebox cake. I used lady fingers (Italalian crispy) instead of cookies since that was what I had on hand. I did a quick dip in coffee ala tiramisu. Easy and light.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/mocha-chocolate-icebox-cake-recipe.html

I know exactly the one you are talking about. I watched this episode with my mom and it looked great. I should add this to the dessert table. Thanks for the reminder Yahooey!! From what I remember it looks pretty easy too.

If you want to make it more elaborate and attractive, use mousse in a Death by Chocolate recipe, layered in a glass compote.

I was thinking about mousse and making little chocolate dishes for it. You take a balloon and dip it in melted chocolate to make the bowl and then fill with mousse. My daughter is making a trifle with mousse in it but I will have to ask what the other ingredients are. I love layered desserts in a beautiful glass dish, I will look up the Death by Chocolate recipe. Thanks Free2be!

I have two pretty bowls and about 8 smaller bowls that go with each and have always wanted to make one of those and never have. They just sit in the sideboard waiting to be used . . . year after year after year. haha

Wanna know what I want to try . . . individual Baked Alaska . . . but made with Van-Choc-Straw . . . I think that is the dessert I've enjoyed more than any other I've ever eaten . . . I'm sure part is because it was a specialty Salmon Bake event on our cruise to Alaska . . .but I've had plenty of other rich & indulgent desserts but this one left me wishing we could have done that every sea day on that cruise!!! But then since I am "meringue challenged" it could prove difficult to make.

Thanks irshgrl! I'll be watching for it! Another vacation favorite, mousse in a very tall skinny glass . .. can't remember the name right now . .. but everyone at our table had it a couple of times over the course of several days. One of those you truly had to save "room" for from the meal or you'd never be able to eat the whole dessert! Dessert. My favorite part of the meal. Heck sometimes even @ Disney, we'd take the kids to Ghiradelli in DownTown Disney for lunch or dinner . .. and tell them We're On Vacation . . . it's ok it eat like there is no tomorrow . . . we can eat healthy at home.
