Need help with shipping gifts overseas!

My daughter and her husband was transferred to Spain. I was wondering if anyone has ever used Amazon to ship any items overseas and if so how was the experience? I wanted to ship some Christmas gifts to my grandchildren. Do you think it would cost more to buy the presents myself and send them or to buy from Amazon and have them ship them? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Do you know enough Spanish to order from Amazon in Spain? I've ordered from Amazon.co.uk for British relatives (so the shipping cost was local, not international) and the experience was just as good as it is ordering from Amazon here.

I used to order books in French from Amazon.fr, when I lived in England. Now I order them from Amazon in Canada. Wherever I've ordered from, I've had no problems at all. It's just like ordering from "our" Amazon.

I don't know how well it works if you particularly want them to not enclose an invoice on gift items (and I suspect that you could be disappointed if it's a third party seller rather than actual Amazon themselves), but that's not been necessary for me so I don't know if it works.

Third party may not arrive--I have had that happen. But Amazon works great shipping to another country.
