just watched the one hour interview with Sgt Tahmooressi on his 214 days in Mexico. it was heart wrenching and should be watched. i feel sick he was left there for so long -

I was distracted and didn't catch it all. He did seem very happy to be back and I'm sorta surprised they didn't do at least a few minutes with his Mom and him and Greta. I will DVR it and watch tomorrow.

It was heartbreaking to watch, however, I agree that his story needs to be told. I applaud Greta for keeping our Marines name in the news. He's going to need lot's of prayers and support in the months/years to come.

Greta really did a lot of work to help get this Marine released. She did not let this story slip away like those that be in a certain city did. Sure, trade 5 terrorists for an "accused deserter", but do absolutely nothing to gain the release of an honored Marine with PTSD being held in Mexico. Guess they forgot the: No Man Left Behind!!!!!

Thanks go out to Greta and also to Bill O'Reilly and the Fox Network for not giving up on this story as did the so-called major news networks.

DH and I both had a weird feeling watching this interview. Something doesn't seem right about this story. Not talking about the missed turn in the dark with guns, which I hear is easy to do if you miss this turn at the border. His story in the prison and body language was very odd.

There are clips up on gretawire dot com. i think it is important to note that Sgt T is afflicted with severe PTSD and attendant paranoia. which makes this long imprisonment all the more cruel.

I was appalled that his mother had to have a full unclothed search before she could see her son in the prison. I'm putting it politely so it gets printed.

It is shameful and beyond disgusting how the Pres of Mexico came here and insulted the US on immigration while this kid was forced to stay in his country for trumped up charges and under deplorable conditions.

The man had guns and ammunition when he entered a sovereign country in which guns are illegal. It's unfortunate that he didn't mean to go Mexico (or so he says), but he did so carrying contraband. If he was carrying drugs, would people here be so outraged?

I'm glad Mexico recognized his fragile mental state and released him. I hope to God this man will not be allowed to possess firearms in this country.

lol we have illegals crossing our borders daily with weapons and not treated the way this kid was treated.

And you are forgetting this kid was suffering from ptsd and paranoia. He made a mistake out of confusion. But the way our Gov't acted was deplorable. I am not going to sway my position on this and so I respect our difference of opinion and will leave it at that.

"No man left behind" pertains to the battlefield only. When arrested, Mr. Tahmooressi was not a POW nor was he active duty. As for the oft-repeated phrase that no one in our Government worked for his release - that's not true but only so much can be done when local laws are not followed. ETA I too am glad he's back in the US.

I'm not asking you to change your mind. I'm just asking you why the laws of Mexico are not as important as the laws here.

If someone from Mexico or Canada was caught crossing our border with illegal firearms, would you agree we should just let them go? Why should Tahmorheesi be exempt from the laws of other countries? I realize he said it was a mistake. I take him at his word. But if the situation were reversed, would we accept the excuse and let the person go?

Again, this whole situation points to how lax our own gun laws are when someone in the mental state of Tahmorheesi can drive around with 3 guns and a hundred rounds of ammunition.

It's my understanding he was released so he could get help with his PTSD.

I believe the US would do the same if a Mexican prisoner was in need of medical attention.
