Beauty and "looking good in your clothes" is very subjective.

As are good looking legs.

*she says as she munches on a very unsatisfying 100 cal pack of Keebler Sandies, Fudge Dipped.

The NYC papers are reporting that costumed thieves robbed a Long Island home, pistol whipped the dad, tied up the wife after the family opened up the door for trick or treaters. Do you still feel safe?

There were a ton of kids on our street. The parents drive them here and then walk with them up and down and then pile back into the car to head for another street. Heard lots of screaming and laughter too. We didn't participate again this year. The kids (and their parents) are fat enough and look like they've been eating candy all year long.

Here in Los Angeles three was a sting operation or two. S*x offenders were giving out candy to the children when they have restraining orders and they aren't supposed to have children around them or near them at all.

There was another thread here regarding trick or treating. Those that pass out the candy and those (like me) that no longer will do so due to the OP's post and warnings by the police. I also agree with post No. 3, the children and parent are fat enough and look like they've been eating candy all year long. Also, my lawn and parkway is littered with the wrappers that they toss. As soon as they get the candy, they gobble it and toss the papers all around. Now where are the environmentalists and the nature lovers to comment on that litter and behavior?

we have not had any in years!! i can't recall the last time i had to buy any candy. the people in our area take the kids to harvest carnivals and parties. we have quite a few to choose from the days before Halloween. plus there was even one at the HS football game friday night, too for the younger kids! i was out because of the game and passed through a couple of neighborhoods and even at 7 the streets were mostly deserted. then temp was in the 40's. i saw a couple of cars driving the kids around but that was it.

interesting in that we were talking about Halloween at work on Friday and saying how when we were kids, we were told that there were "Bad" people who owuld put razor blades in our apples and drugs in our candy...

This was in the 1960's..Never happened to any of us, I am sure it happened to someone at some time-

did it scare us? yes, of course- Bad things DO happen, but we still went to lovers lane and never found a "hook" hanging from out car door, never found drugs in the ice cream from the ice cream man, we never encountered anyone dangerous in a hockey mask or with a chain saw, though popular movies "told" us about it-

Yeah, there are bad people who will use anything ss an opportunity for crime and bad things..

My BF had over 400 trick or treaters...don't think its dying out anytime soon...

(Frankly, in the '60's, very few drug addicts wanted to waste theirs on some stupid kids, doubt they do now, either)

It depends on where you live I guess. I live in a small safe community. There are various businesses that do a Trunk or Treat, but also several neighborhoods where the children flock & are dropped off. Kids no longer run loose like we did & rarely without an adult.

Those of us who grew up in the golden age of trick or treating are nostalgic about the fun we had in a more innocent time, and we feel sadness that subsequent generations haven't experienced the same, for a variety of reasons. If I had a grandchild of t&t age today I would prefer they do their Halloween Thing at school, the malls, parties, city gatherings, etc. for safety reasons. The kids don't miss what they've never had as far as door-to-door, they just like the idea of dressing up and getting candy. It's their elders who feel like they're missing something.

You just wanted to put someone down for the day. You are a sad sort to need to bolster yourself daily with your words by being petty. I think it would be sad to have to live around you. Go and have some candy.

In my area of southern WV, several elementary schools held special Halloween festivities aimed at keeping children off the streets with safe activities. The students were allowed to wear their costumes to school, participate in a costume parade, and enjoyed a day of planned fun thrown into the instructional day. After school, the gym became a Halloween carnival with fun and games, then the students returned to their classroom to enjoy a party and treats provided by the parents. I would like to see more of these types of activities for children, instead of door to door trick or treating.
