What makes you think, "now that's a smart person"?

I know there's IQ tests to measure that by, but in the common sense, everyday, how do you come to that conclusion?

I think this is a fair and interesting question. To me it is not all about the Intelligence Quotient. It is a mixture of that.... plus common sense ....plus awareness (some would call that "bright", I guess)

We all constantly judge others whether or not we admit to it. When you meet someone and listen to them speak you will, consciously or unconsciously, form opinions about them. You may think how impressive a person is, or that they are dumber than dirt. You may think how much you like someone or gee, I gotta get away from this nut.

There are very few people who are "smart" in all aspects and all fields. For me, for general purposes, I'll take someone with passion and common sense as a confidant and go to person. In areas of specialty, obviously I look to someone who has the education to provide the best services possible and that requires both the education, a hunger to continue to learn and the ability to apply what they've learned and willing to think outside the box.
