Daily Positive Thread for Friday

Hello my friends! Today's blessings - well Linus is busy putting a new floor in the laundry room, first new one since we moved here 11 years ago, which had the original ugly linoleum. This one looks like tile and will have grout in it and really looks nice, Lori has the same in her bathroom, and gave us what she needed need. It's already looking great there, tomorrow he puts in the grout. The wine got racked tonight again, it does taste a bit stronger than last time, they say to rack it 3 times. Seems like we got the residue all off now. Lori was here for the racking this time, she wants us to continue until we are perfectionists in wine making like his brother and wife. We shall see. Thinking of just plain grape wine, maybe mixing it with some of our frozen sliced apples? Praying for you all - and thanks for your prayers for us.

Not only must we know God's will, but we must do God's will to enter

the Kingdom of Heaven. Lord, I commit myself to obeying the will of

my heavenly Father.

Scripture for the day:

"You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of

joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore." ~Psalm 16:11

Meditation for the day:

"In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are

pleasures forevermore." We do not find true happiness by looking for

it. Seeking pleasure does not bring happiness in the long run, only

disillusionment. We need not seek to have this fullness of joy by

seeking pleasure. It cannot be done that way. Happiness is a

by-product of living the right kind of life. True happiness comes as

result of living in all respects the way we believe God wants us to

live, with regard to ourselves and to other people.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may not always seek pleasure as a goal. I pray that I

may be content with the happiness that comes when I do the right

thing.

Being Transparent

It is hard to be transparent. No one likes to show a side that would

indicate any irresponsibility or failure. No one wants others to know about

their embarrassments, or their inconsistencies. Being transparent can prove

that we are not who we seem to be, or bear witness to the fact that we

aren't as good at something as we thought we were.

Sometimes being transparent is just letting others see your vulnerable self.

It is letting others see you cry, moan, weep or gnash your teeth. It is

letting others in on your heartbreak, your hurt, and your sensitive areas.

It is coming off the pedestal and standing down in the midst of the crowd.

It is being Jesus, and being hung to die on a cross for all the world to

see.

LIFE IS AN ECHO

A son and his father were walking in the mountains. Suddenly, his son

falls,

hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh! !!"

To his surprise, hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain:

"AAAhhhhhhhhhhh! !!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"

He receives the answer: "Who are you?"

Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"

He receives the answer: "Coward!"

He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"

The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention." And then he

screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"

The voice answers: "I admire you!"

Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"

The voice answers: "You are a champion!"

The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father

explains: "People call this echo, but really this is life. It gives

you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of

our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in

your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your

competence.

This relationship applies to everything, in all aspect of life; life

will give you back everything you have given to it."

Prepare a Way for the Lord

God does not barge into our lives: He stands at the gate and knocks.

However, we can only open to Him with His help; we need Him to undo the

bolts and unravel the twists and turns any deceptions of our lives if He is

to come and live with us. And so we pray that our hearts may be opened to

receive Christ with joy today as the tax collector Zacchaeus received Him so

many years ago. Like him we need to learn to judge wisely the things of

earth and love the things of heaven.

THE PROCESS OF FORGIVENESS

Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who

curse you, pray for those who mistreat you (Luke 6:27, 28).

Here are 12 simple steps you can use to walk through the process

of forgiving someone who hurt you in the past.

1. Ask the Lord to reveal the names of the persons who offended

you and the specific wrongs you suffered.

2. Face the hurt and the hate. If you are going to forgive from

your heart, you must let God search the depths of your heart.

3. Acknowledge the significance of the cross. It is the cross of

Christ that makes forgiveness legally and morally right.

4. Decide that you will not retaliate by using the information

about the offender's sin against them (Luke 6:27-34).

5. Decide to forgive. Forgiveness is a conscious choice to let

the other person off the hook and free yourself from the

past.

6. Take your list of names to God and pray the following: "I

forgive ___(name)___ for ___(specifically identify every

remembered pain)__."

7. Destroy the list. You are now free. Do not tell the offenders

what you have done. Your forgiveness is between you and God

unless the offenders have asked you for forgiveness.

8. Do not expect that your decision to forgive will result in

major changes in the other persons. Instead, pray for them

(Matthew 5:44).

9. Try to understand the people you have forgiven. They are

victims also.

10. Freedom is a result of forgiveness in you. In time you will

be able to think about the people who offended you without

feeling hurt or anger.

11. Thank God for the lessons you have learned and the maturity

you have gained.

12. When appropriate, accept your part of the blame for the

offenses you suffered. Confess your failure to God and to

others (1 John 1:9) and realize that if someone has something

against you, you must go to that person (Matthew 5:23-26).

Lord, teach me how to love unconditionally and forgive quickly

those who hate me, curse me or mistreat me.
