Death Can Wait

The bride with brain cancer has decided that death can wait and she no longer plans to end her life on Nov. 1st.

I saw the video this morning on TODAY. It was not clear when the video was recorded, but she looked (relatively) well. She went to the Grand Canyon last week so she is not bedridden.

I too think her loved ones would be relieved.....while I understand her desire to die with dignity it has to be hard because the loss of a loved one even planned would be difficult no matter how much you try to prepare in advance.

I, too, wish for her strength and peace, and I support her decision to make the journey the way she and her family choose. It's good to have this discussion, raise awareness. As the linked article says, "The evolution of Maynard’s story reveals the difficulties that come with making an end-of-life decision."

I don't wish to hear that she is suffering, but I'm glad she decided not to take her own life. Yes, it's ultimately her choice.

I think it is one thing to plan, another to move forward once that medication is in your hands.

I believe that now she has the definite choice since the meds have been filled, and that alone should be a relief to her. Knowing you now have the legal means to end your life can certainly have postponed her original plan.

She has total control now, not the cancer. I completely understand her decision to postpone the final act.

I'm with her whatever choice SHE makes.

I thought she would delay as she still didn't look like she was in pain. And I think it's great that she is waiting and if she still chooses down the line when she is in pain, she has the pill with her. My prayers go out to her and her family.

Not sure pain was the primary fear problem, it was back to back to back seizures (that apparently the Dr's told her was a possibility).

She has had seizures, but not the non-stop ones (as I have read, no I don't know her).

I have a lot of respect for her decision. It should be a choice for any American.

When the time has come, she will know. As someone above said, SHE is in control, not the brain cancer.

God Bless her, what an awful disease. Diagnosed right after being married. Just so sad.

I just watched the video. She is an only child. Cannot imagine how strong her Mom has to be. Wow.

She was told she had six months to live. That time is near and she is still able to enjoy life. Sounds to me as if she reevaluated the time which she has left.

I'm torn about her decision. I follow Kara Tippetts who is also fighting brain cancer as well. She is a Christian wife/mother with four young children. She's in her mid 30s so she and Brittany are about the same age, but they are opposite about how to die. I wonder if Brittany had children would that affect her decision.
