Elisabeth Hasselbeck?

Does anyone know what is wrong with her? Whoopi mentioned her on the View but gave no details. She hasn't been on her Fox show in quite a while.

Yes, that is all they said on Fox and Friends. She had sudden, unexplained surgery and will return in several weeks.

I thought she had some gluten or something issues and wrote a book? Maybe it is something gastro? Or maybe an ectopic pregnancy . . . who knows. Wish her well. Didn't even know she was MIA.

Fox & Friends anchor Elisabeth Hasselbeck is taking two weeks off after undergoing a mystery surgery. Hasselbeck's co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade made the surprise announcement live on air Oct. 15.

“In case you were wondering where Elisabeth is today, she had some surgery yesterday and she’s going be out for a couple weeks,” said Doocy. “But she’s doing just fine. She’s on the mend.”

Kilmeade said Hasselbeck will be back better than ever because she's a great athlete who is extremely healthy. "She is strong, she is tough, and a better athlete than me," said Kilmeade. "We heard from her last night and she said she is feeling good. So, in a short time, she'll be back on the set."

Fox News did not provide any details on Hasselbeck's surgery, but asked for privacy. Hasselbeck, 37, previously told Good Housekeeping she has celiac disease and has to follow a gluten-free diet as a result.

Elisabeth said she has to manage stress very carefully because of her celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that causes damage to the small intestine when gluten is ingested. "Given my celiac disease, my body tends to shut down when I’m under stress, like when I’m training for a marathon," she said.

Elisabeth, who first became famous after competing on the reality TV competition "Survivor" in 2001, was a co-host on "The View" from 2003 to 2013. Hasselbeck previously revealed has a family history of cancer. Elizabeth's mother battled breast cancer in 1995 but has been cancer-free since then.

Hasselbeck is a vocal cancer activist who is vigilant about her health. She has admitted she is concerned she may get breast cancer at some point. "Chances are, I'm gonna get it, but I promise you I'm gonna get it early," Elisabeth told Rachael Ray in 2011. "I'm gonna find out because I'm checking all the time."

Hasselbeck made similar comments in a February 2014 interview (see video above) with E! anchor Giuliana Rancic, herself a breast cancer survivor.

“I think I’ve always felt as though [breast cancer is] probably going to happen," said Elisabeth. "I do think that now it’s a matter of when. I go to the doctor and you’re just almost waiting for them to tell you something that’s not great.”

Hasselbeck, a self-professed workout fanatic, runs several miles a day, for both physical and mental health. Elisabeth has been married to Tim Hasselbeck, a retired NFL quarterback, since 2002. The couple has three children.

Elisabeth has not directly commented on her mystery surgery, but we hope her recovery goes well and she remains healthy

If the surgery was two weeks ago and she's expected back soon, it's strange that Whoopi would just mention it today.

At the very beginning of Tuesday's show she also told her to get well soon. She did not disclose what illness she was being treated for.
