Oh goody, we're in the way back machine. About 10 or 20 years ago passive aggressive was a frequent response answer here.

It's really more complicated than we might think. But in general, it's not confronting a person or an issue head-on, directly, face-to-face, and instead finding side-roads, less obvious things, to make your point.

I hate seeing that comment become one that people take as sarcasm. Coming from the south, I always used it sincerely. Now if I say it, I always feel I have to add some sort of disclaimer.

Often does the opposite. It's not a lie . . . a lie would be "I did it," and it wasn't done. Whatever . . . eye of the beholder, I guess.
