According to local Maine news at noon (WCSH), she is not staying at the boyfriend's house. She is at an "undisclosed" ocation in northern Maine, is still lawyered up and plans to fight the 21 day quarantine which is the law in Maine (same as NJ and NY).

I saw something about this soxfan. The article I read (AP) said at first that she was under quarantine, but then later on it said they were making it voluntary. If she doesn't comply they will consider other options. I'll see if I can find it.

Soxfan, I have heard that Kaci works for the CDC for their Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS). That could explain her position on the matter, and her outrage at having to be quarantined after being in the midst of ebola patients. I think she is selfish and wrong.

If I were held, involuntarily , in a TENT with no running water or heat in the parking lot of a hospital, I would have been lawyered up before the flap on the tent was closed.

She isn't going to win any popularity contests in Maine or NJ or in many other places at the rate she is going. And any previous sympathies many may have felt for her in the beginning will diminish at the rate she is going too!

Are mistakes being made? Yes. Are they trying to deal with un-chartered territory? Yes.

What a mess. And the changing protocols and announcements aren't helping. While YES they should change as more is learned . . . it seems very chaotic at this point in time. While not bolstering confidence of the ""general American public"" who at best aren't the most informed on even trivial matters much less serious and deadly ones.

Really, you would have? I could see that if Ebola was even common in this country but it is something very new in this country and people are still figuring it out. I agree, it was not ideal what happened to her in the beginning but she was held for 7 hrs right? I certainly can understand the frustration she felt traveling a long way and then having to deal with this. Traveling alone with nothing going wrong can be annoying enough but this isn't something that Americans have dealt with before and the more chefs you have in the kitchen the more confusing it can become which is most likely why this became such a cluster@#$!.

She spent some time in a place she didn't want to be but it wasn't too long and she was flown home privately. Get over it already. At this point all the stuff she is doing now is making her look like a jerk.

Good lord, I have sat in a hospital for longer, alone with nothing to eat and no one updating me and I lived to tell about it. It is called Friday night in the ER.

Ditto that. I was at the Pediatric ER about 3 weeks ago. And you usually get faster service there than regular ER and as it was about 6.5 hours. Nothing to eat or drink. Signs all over the place to not eat or drink until after seeing the doctor. Poor son had gone 20 hours nothing to eat or drink. I at least drank a cup of coffee on our way there so one cup of coffee in 20 hours. Such is life in the ER. I am still thankful for the ER doctors and nurses and all the other personnel and insurance.

I would think the basic creature comforts don't mean all that much to people who go to those places in the first place. Aren't they kind of used to roughing it a bit? That said, a tent in a parking lot was probably not the best choice for the returning health care workers. I do agree, though, that now she is getting annoying. Yes, she was let out, they flew her to Maine and that should be that. It seems that she is h#ll bent on making a big to do out of this. Obviously this whole Ebola thing in the US is a learn as we go thing. Rachel Maddow cracked me up last night talking about rules changing every other day. It does seem like a bit of a mess to tell you the truth.

That's what I'd like to know.

So far all I can gather from what I've heard is that she knows more about ebola than anyone and should do as she sees fit.

The whole thing is a mess and yes, Rachel M has been very funny about it, but what is this nurse doing to make it better?

She seems to think she can behave any way she likes because of her self-sacrifice in West Africa.

I truly want to thank this nurse for her dedication and sacrifice in going to West Africa to help these people in need. I would not have the courage to do that myself and I acknowledge we need people like her in this world willing to put themselves on the line for others. For that alone, I believe she deserves credit and I thank her.

That said, I wish she would just stay home and self-monitor for the rest of the 21 days and shut up about it. She was released from her ordeal in New Jersey.

Time to move on IMO. Her life is hardly ruined over it, unless she just wants it to be.

The remainder of her three weeks will go by quickly and will do so no matter what she does or doesn't do. They are half over already, no?

Is it really, really so hard to do that, even for her own protection and the public's peace of mind?

I read that while she has volunteered in the past in Myanmaar, she was only in Africa since September for this particular mission. She was initially not accepted by the Doctor's Without Borders program. I don't think another 21 days is too much to ask. Her mother mentioned in an interview that she hasn't seen her in about 10 months.

I would love to read more info about that too. The only sites I see that on are questionable. I just want to know why she was initially turned down.

She is too immature to let it go and too self-absorbed to see the bigger picture. I hope she pursues a lawsuit at her time, aggravation, and expense...and I hope she loses.
