Gee, I dunno. Shocking, imo. Quiet little New Hampshire.

At least a lot of the college students showed up today to clean up the mess, but they say 30 people were injured yesterday.

Wow. Sounds like it was a frightening incident. Here's one student's guess about what caused the problem.

". . . Brian Mazzola, a junior, said most of the students in his apartment building decided to stay inside Saturday night after hearing about the brewing trouble.

"It was kind of scary," he said. "We could hear the helicopters circling around telling people to go inside."

He believes police were too aggressive in shutting down parties early in the weekend, saying that forced "a mob of drunk kids on the street" with nowhere to go. But he said the police response once things turned violent was absolutely appropriate . . ."

And only 14 were arrested. " Students threw bottles and pumpkins, destroyed street signs, lit fires, and overturned cars and dumpsters."

OMGosh...........Doesn't anyone have homework now-a-days? Keeping busy scholastically is a better option. 'As I recall', a thousand years ago, we had tons of term papers, etc. Much too busy to riot, for sure.

From what I hear, more and more colleges are worried about alcohol abuse, especially in frat houses. I don't know if saying no parties at all is the best response, the students will always find a way to get it. Maybe monitored parties.

Binge drinking in college is as old as the hills. I'll never understand why a blind eye is turned to underage drinking on campus. Anyone under age caught with alcohol or trying to buy alcohol should be prosecuted. It happened to someone I know. The rest of us were scared stiff to try anything after that.

Yes, and also frat houses..........very bad many years ago, and I dropped a couple of BF's/dates with enormously great potential (very high-class U., not mine.) because they always brought me to their frat parties. Couldn't stand being around it/that. Lots of intox. frats and their intoxicated dates in and out of bedrooms, etc. My date and I would sit and talk in the hallway on the floor, etc. ...........Looking back, wish I would have been more outspoken, maybe suggested to my date that we go for a walk, have study-dates, etc. Very nice, nice-looking (one in particular), looked something like Dr. Travis Stork (not him, wrong time frame, age, etc.). Oh, well.........water under the bridge, so-to-speak.
