How do you Clean a Brand-New Toothbrush?

I don't know about you, but I wash just about everything I buy before I use it, including all plastic ware and food storage containers, foil baking pans, etc. I especially take care to wash everything that goes into our mouths.

So then, how should I clean my brand new toothbrush? Soap? I don't think so. I usually just run it under the water and rub it dry on a clean towel. But really, I do more than that for everything else.

What do you do?

I put toothbrushes in the dishwasher once a week. If someone is sick, I throw it out and get a new one

I soak new ones in peroxide for a few minutes, then rinse. Actually, I do this every few weeks until I feel it's time for a new one.

What do I do? Not worry about it. The manufacturers put so much bleach in toothpaste these days that germs don't stand a chance.

Dip it in mouthwash and let it dry .... Mouthwashes all advertise that they kill germs. I dip mine in mouthwash every week or so.

I rinse them in hot water and then pour listerine over them.

Our youngest is moving to a new apartment this week. We treated him to a trip to Bed Bath and beyond and got him new linens and towels etc. We brought everything back to our house and washed everything. He thought it was weird to wash new things. I simply described the factory, the sewers, the machines etc. lol!--------Keeping in mind I am totally neurotic.

I have a roll of paper towels in my bathroom I use for everything. I rarely use a hand towels at all. I use paper towels to dry off my toothbrush etc. I use and throw away. Much less germ- ie.

My husband and son share a dental practice. I have never sterilized a new toothbrush.

I have a Sonicare toothbrush that I got a few years ago. It came with a UV brush sanitizer. My brush gets sanitized after each use. That's all I do with mine.

I don't do anything with/to them. I never have, except to rinse them in hot water after each use.

We bought one of these and absolutely love it. It has a built-in UV sanitizer. It really does a terrific job. It's a Philips Sonicare Flexcare Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush.

I never washed a new toothbrush. I can't imagine why I would do that. I change my toothbrush at least once a month. They are not expensive and I just like having a new one. After brushing, I run the brush under scalding hot water, that's it. I also do the same for my sonic care brushes. I can't imagine having a brush for months. If I decided to wash a new one for some reason, I would just scald it I guess.

I have been pouring peroxide over my toothbrushes for years to disinfect them. Each bathroom has a large bottle for this purpose. This trick is what stopped the frequent viruses and infections my girls used to get as children.

I bought the same and it sits packed up. DH says it tickles too much.
