In the last couple of days, I've watched a few episodes of "What Not to Wear" which got me thinking about what changed my mind about how I looked and why.

My change occurred in the second half of my sophomore year of high school. (In San Francisco high school was grades 10-12, so this would have been the 10th grade for me.)

The Beattles were all the rage. At that time, so many changes occurred in fashion, make-up and hair styles, it was great! I remember saving money so that I could shop at Joseph Magnin's. I didn't make many purchases, but those that I did make were my pride and joy. My favorite was a 2-piece black and white houndstooth outfit - skirt and top with v-neck. Wore it with textured hose and suede and alligator-like shoes with a 1-1/2" heel. Ah, sheer fashion bliss in 1963!

I still have my gold plated dome ring purchased at Magnin's. The ring still looks as if it just came out of a high end jewelry store. They just don't plate things like that any longer.
