I used to love this show and still watch it in re-runs in my area. Well, seems that the dad Eric, Stephen Collins is a child molester! Was so surprised to hear this. TMZ reported his ex-wife recorded him admitting it, etc. Another ugly divorce with nastiness coming out. I remember her, Faye Grant in one of the episodes. She played Abbie who was coming on to him!

We read TMZ at the same time! I never thought he would do something like this. I guess I thought he was like the character he played.

Hi, makeup addict. I was looking at links and just saw that Sarah, the girl who played Matt's wife on the show passed away in Sept. of natural causes. So sad.

This is still under investigation, from what I read in other sources, and I am so saddened to hear that it is even a possibility. I loved his character in 7th Heaven, and liked him recently in Revolution as well. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that it could be true, but will let the investigation take it's course before I decide if I can watch his work anymore without feeling ill.

Wow, that's disappointing. I liked the show, and his character, too, but actually "discovered" Stephen Collins many years before that in a movie called The Promise with Kathleen Quinlan. If his admission is true, I agree that he needs to be prosecuted and not allowed to be around children.

I was just so shocked by this but it just goes to show you that you cannot trust anyone!! It is beyond unconscionable he was such a revered actor and then to be a person that is the scum of the earth, well that is just sad!! And to portray clergy??? SICK!!

I will reserve judgment of this man since I don't have any facts.

It was suggested they are going through a nasty divorce. So who knows? Perhaps they were playing a part in a TV show (both are actors) and this line was part of the dialogue. Strange things happen you know. I can't imagine Faye would do this but people will do some untoward things in order to get what they want.

TMZ is not my point of reference for accurate information.

I read that one of the molested girls was related to his wife, and initially told her about this happening many years ago, but it was only acknowledged several years ago.

There has been some type of investigation pertaining to this going on for several years and it appears to be being looked into again.

I'm not saying it did happen, but things like this certainly do happen and have happened to more than one person I know.

Although the tapes (if authentic) don't look good for him, we should wait to hear all the evidence and hear the facts before making judgements and crucifying him.

It is curious that he resigned from the Screen Actors Guild and other organizations he was working for so suddenly. But, we'll have to wait and see if the authorities charge him and if anyone comes forward.

I don't understand a so called therapist hearing this so called confession and doing nothing for 2 years.

The wife secretly taped his confession during a visit to couple's counseling at the advice of the ex wife's attorney. He admitted to at least 3 episodes of exposing himself to children. One was a friend of the family's daughter.
