Gloria, I'm glad your back is better. My back is feeling better I'm moving a little better now I'm doing stretching exercises and putting some heat on it. When I had this sciatica about seven years ago a friend of mine recommended a Chiropractor and he got rid of it for me, as you know my father was a chiropractor, I wish he was still here God rest his soul, anyway this chiropractor isn't there anymore so I don't know how to get in touch with him, it was great because he worked like my father did. What I'm doing is slow but it seems to be working.

Praying for everyone's intentions.

Counting my blessings, and blessings to all.

Harlene(lovestopaint)

Hello my friends! Chilly out, but the sun was out all day, so that's good. I went to Dr. Mike this morning for an adjustment - my lower back was out of whack and now much better! The rest of the day was more relaxing to me, and we do have the carrots dug now and in the house, so now I must get them ready to freeze. I love sliced frozen carrots - so easy to use for in soups etc. My blessings today is first - I'm feeling better, and Dr. Mike is such a blessing to us. My family and Church family also are great blessings. and so is our little Sammy!! A cute little blessing!!

Today ask God for anything that is in line with His will for you. Plead with

Him

and Tell Him your needs and keep praying.

Scripture for the day:

"Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are

those who have not seen and yet have come to believe." ~John 20:29

Meditation for the day:

God can help make us truly grateful and humble. Since we cannot see God, we

can believe in God without seeing. What we can see clearly is the change in

a human being when that person sincerely asks God for the strength to

change. We can cling to faith in God and in God's power to change our ways.

Our faith in God can be rewarded by a useful and serviceable life. God can

show us the way we should live, when in real gratitude and true humility we

turn to God.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may believe that God can change me. I pray that I may be

always willing to be changed for the better.

A Miracle of the Rosary - A Promise Fulfilled

Approximately two years ago, my two elderly great-aunts asked me for

assistance because they were failing in body and mind and had no one to help

them. I agreed to help, and it was a difficult task because they sometimes

were confused and even hostile. They were family and I loved them, so I did

my best.

My aunts were very devoted to the Mass and to the rosary. They said the

rosary daily. Sometimes I would call in the afternoon to check on them and

they would be in the midst of the rosary.

"Can you call back later, honey?" my Aunt Jo would softly ask. Having been

away from the church for about twenty-five years, I was impatient and not

very sympathetic. But I would call back later as requested.

As time went on, My Aunt Jo grew more frail and weak and soon her sweet

little heart gave out. In the emergency room, the day she died, a doctor

explained that there was really nothing more to be done to prolong her life.

So I asked if we could have a private room, that she be made comfortable and

then I asked if there was a priest on hand. The doctor called the priest and

soon my aunt had received the Anointing of the Sick. A few hours later, she

died peacefully.

Six months later, my Aunt Helen, who had been living in a personal care home

near where I lived, fell and broke her hip. Surgery was performed and she

came through it well, considering she was 90 years old, but she soon

developed respiratory problems and one night, was rushed to the hospital

from the personal care home.

Someone from the hospital called to tell me that they had, in fact, revived

her and that if she had a living will, I should bring it to the hospital

immediately so that she wouldn't end up on unwanted life support. I did

bring the will and asked that the priest be called. This time, Aunt Helen

received the Anointing of the Sick, which she would not have received if

they had had her living will the first time she arrested.

A few days later she died peacefully in the same hospital. Both my aunts'

funerals were held in St. Thomas More Church in a suburb of Pittsburgh. They

loved their church and had attended Mass there for many years. I felt an

immediate connection with their church and soon found myself attending Mass

there and reunited with my faith.

One day a friend presented me with a small pamphlet on the rosary, which

included the promises Our Lady made to anyone who would say the rosary

faithfully. The one that took my breath away was that she would assist the

faithful at the hour of death and they would not be without the sacraments.

It occurred to me with the forcefulness of a lightning bolt that I had been

the agent of fulfilling Our Lady's promise to my aunts! They had never said

a word about calling a priest - they trusted in the message and I took care

of the arrangements.

Now, through this miracle, I am also devoted to the rosary and even plan to

visit Medjugorje someday. I attend Mass daily and have felt the powerful

change prayer has made in my life. So, in essence, my aunts have been the

spiritual agents in my life as well.

The Blessed Mother fulfills her promises mightily. I will always believe in

the miracle of the rosary.

The Wisdom Prayer

O Great Spirit,

Whose voice I hear in the winds;

And who's breath gives life to all the world,

hear me! I am small and weak, I need your

strength and wisdom.

Let Me Walk In Beauty, and make my eyes

ever behold the red and purple sunsets.

Make My Hands respect the things you have

made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make Me Wise so that I may understand the

things you have taught my people.

Let Me Learn the lessons you have hidden

in every leaf and rock.

I Seek Strength, not to be greater than my

brother, but to fight my greatest

enemy--myself.

Make Me Always Ready to come to you with

clean hands and straight eyes.

So When Life Fades, as the fading sunset,

my spirit may come to you

without shame.

A Native American Prayer

Good Advises to Live By..

If you want your dreams to come true, don't oversleep.

The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention.

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.

The best vitamin for making friends....B1.

The 10 commandments are not multiple choice.

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

Minds are like parachutes...they function only when open.

Ideas won't work unless YOU do.

One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.

One who lacks the courage to start has already finished.

The heaviest thing to carry is a grudge.

Don't learn safety rules by accident.

We lie the loudest when we lie to ourselves.

Jumping to conclusions can be bad exercise.

A turtle makes progress when it sticks it's head out.

One thing you can give and still keep...is your word.

A friend walks in when everyone else walks out.

AND FINALLY...

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime!!!

     Author: Unknown

TELL HIM SO

If you hear a kind word spoken Of some worthy soul you know,

It may fill his heart with sunshine If you only tell him so.

If a deed, however humble, Helps you on your way to go

Seek the one whose hand has helped you, Seek him out and tell him so.

If your heart is touched and tender Toward a sinner, lost and low,

It might help him to do better If you'd only tell him so!

Oh, my sisters, oh, my brothers, As o'er life's rough path you go,

If God's love has saved and kept you, Do not fail to tell folks so!

Author Unknown

Tissue Alert!!!!!

A GOOD-BYE KISS

By Thomas Charles Clary

The Board Meeting had come to an end. Bob started to stand up and

jostled the table, spilling his coffee over his notes. "How

embarrassing. I am getting so clumsy in my old age." Everyone had a

good laugh, and soon we were all telling stories of our most

embarrassing moments. It came around to Frank who sat quietly

listening to the others. Someone said, "Come on, Frank. Tell us your

most embarrassing moment." Frank laughed and began to tell us of his

childhood.

"I grew up in San Pedro. My Dad was a fisherman, and he loved the

sea. He had his own boat, but it was hard making a living on the sea.

He worked hard and would stay out until he caught enough to feed the

family. Not just enough for our family, but also for his Mom and Dad

and the other kids that were still at home." He looked at us and

said, "I wish you could have met my Dad. He was a big man, and he was

strong from pulling the nets and fighting the seas for his catch.

When you got close to him, he smelled like the ocean. He would wear

his old canvas, foul-weather coat and his bibbed overalls. His rain

hat would be pulled down over his brow. No matter how much my Mother

washed them, they would still smell of the sea and of fish." Frank's

voice dropped a bit. "When the weather was bad he would drive me to

school. He had this old truck that he used in his fishing business.

That truck was older than he was. It would wheeze and rattle down the

road. You could hear it coming for blocks. As he would drive toward

the school, I would shrink down into the seat hoping to disappear.

Half the time, he would slam to a stop and the old truck would belch

a cloud of smoke. He would pull right up in front, and it seemed like

everybody would be standing around and watching. Then he would lean

over and give me a big kiss on the cheek and tell me to be a good

boy. It was so embarrassing for me. Here, I was twelve years old, and

my Dad would lean over and kiss me good-bye!"

He paused and then went on, "I remember the day I decided I was too

old for a good-bye kiss. When we got to the school and came to a

stop, he had his usual big smile. He started to lean toward me, but I

put my hand up and said, 'No, Dad.' It was the first time I had ever

talked to him that way, and he had this surprised look on his face.

I said, 'Dad, I'm too old for a good-bye kiss. I'm too old for any

kind of kiss.' My Dad looked at me for the longest time, and his

eyes started to tear up. I had never seen him cry. He turned and

looked out the windshield. 'You're right,' he said. 'You are a big

boy....a man. I won't kiss you anymore.'" Frank got a funny look on

his face, and the tears began to well up in his eyes, as he

spoke. "It wasn't long after that when my Dad went to sea and never

came back. It was a day when most of the fleet stayed in, but not

Dad. He had a big family to feed. They found his boat adrift with its

nets half in and half out. He must have gotten into a gale and was

trying to save the nets and the floats."

I looked at Frank and saw that tears were running down his cheeks.

Frank spoke again. "Guys, you don't know what I would give to have my

Dad give me just one more kiss on the cheek....to feel his rough old

face....to smell the ocean on him....to feel his arm around my neck.

I wish I had been a man then. If I had been a man, I would never have

told my Dad I was too old for a good-bye kiss."

May we never get too old to show our love..

Mother Teresa Said...

Our yes to God is without any reservations.

We are at Jesus' disposal.

If He wants you to be sick in bed,

if He wants you to proclaim His word in the street,

that's all right, everything is all right.

Our Lady of the Rosary - October 7th is the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary

Heavenly King, praying the Rosary holds more power than I can imagine. It

often saved Christian Europe from Muslim invaders. The Blessed Mother taught

three children in Fatima that the Rosary obtains special graces for us,

saves sinners from H ell, and protects us from evil spirits. I ask Our Lady

to accept my prayers into her Immaculate Heart, multiply their power through

the greatness of her love, and then carry Your help to those in need. O

Jesus, as I turn to Your Mother for support in prayer, bind us to the golden

chain of her most holy Rosary, trusting that she will take care of our

souls. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us. Amen.

Remember that Jesus gave us Mary for our Blessed Mother, too, as He was

dying on the Cross. "Behold thy mother, He said to John, "Behold thy son, He

said to her - and with that He gave His blessed Mother to us all.

Hello To All!

Gloria, you mentioned soups. I'd like for things to cool down a bit so that I can have some nice hearty soups - I enjoy them. I have to visit my chiropractor soon as well and I'm glad I have a good one to adjust me. Saw some associates yesterday and it was nice to re-connect.

I give thanks daily for this wonderful nation, her good, her outstanding troops, her citizens, her allies. We are truly blessed here in the USA. Be at peace and know you are loved.

I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me.

God doesn’t want you to go through life constantly struggling, always burdened down, or always fighting against something. Yes, we know that trials and tribulations will come in this life. There may be seasons that are more difficult than others; but, we can’t just settle where we are and accept that it’s always going to be this way. Just like God led the Israelites into the Promised Land, He wants to lead you to a good land with no shortage and no lack. He wants to cause you to remain in His provision and blessing.

The key is that when difficulty comes, instead of focusing on where you are, instead of dwelling on how things won’t work, turn your focus toward Him. Lift up your eyes to heaven. Cast your cares on the Lord. Don’t let the heaviness of the world drag you down. Put your faith and hope in Him knowing that He has good things in store for your future. Keep praying, keep believing and keep trusting because His yoke is easy, His burden is light, and He’s leading you into your promised land!

bluegrassbaby - nice graphic - nice post! That could be said by me, too!

Harlene - my back is good - but my problem is my bladder always acting up. Yesterday I went to Dr. MIke, who adjusted me - found out my lower back was out of whack, thought that would help, but it didn't help the bladder, so planning on calling my Nurse Practioner, Carol, for an appt. Please pray for me so it isn't serious.

Love Roses - Oh we have soups in the summertime too - they're good all year long!! I'm glad you have a good chiropractor - one you can trust like we have. What's your favorite soup?

Lucy - very good post!
