I would say my mother and father were my greatest role models. My mother showed me a women can have great strength or even more strength without being obnoxious.

I also greatly admire Oprah. She grew up in a fairly dysfunctional family and she didn't use it as an excuse to excel at about everything she has done.

Aung San Suu Kyi is also an excellent role model along with Malala of course.

Well if it's true it's true! Why go looking for some distant role model whom you will probably never meet when the best one is in your own back yard? God bless, Mom!

When I see threads like this, I wonder why I can't identify.......my parents are/were great and I am very appreciative but they were not perfect and ,since I'm not either ,I would prefer to do better than they did rather than have them be role models.......I have never had the ability to "connect" with public figures and/or celebrities.....except Elvis who gave me funny feelings in my "tummy" when I watched him on the Ed Sullivan Show. ......so, no role models for me......that I am consciously aware of.

My grandmothers! Both dealt with very serious situations and kept on going. I admire them tremendously. My regret is that I didn't ask questions when I could, now it's too late.
