Yes, a good idea not to answer quiz/survey questions. Even on other sites, etc.

Geeze. What's with your comments to me, specifically. If you have a crush on me, do it privately.

I'm talking about giving information here on a board. Not some anonymous quiz.

For example:

What do you spend on gas a week?

How many cars do you own?

Do you have to get a license to own a _______ in your state?

And people openly give their answers.

I'm trying to let people think twice before openly answering. Just a feeling.

As mentioned in this thread, it's better to give an out-of-this-world answer than just open up.

Like, for example:

Q: What beverage do you drink the most every week?

A: Blood after removing the platelets.

Better to be playful than contributing.

What I noticed is the OP hadn't posted since 2010. In the last 3 weeks there are 27 pages of posts.

There's probably a lot of data mining going on in places like this. An online bulletin board would be a treasure trove of potential marketing information for the right companies. Just create an identity, make a few online friends, then ask questions that seem innocent, but can provide valuable information for those that know what to do with it.

I wouldn't go that far, but they exist for getting data.

Since this is mostly a female base for information gathering, I just want others to think twice.

I've seen very newly created post profiles asking for rather specific information and wanted to ask if others thought about data mining possibilities.

Then again, it might be some one who's just interested in rather odd information.

IMO some of this is ridiculous. I mean really? As long as you keep aware of things, you're fine.

This is a social forum, a place where you can ask whatever you want and some people use questions to start a conversation. That's it.

I'd be more worried about information QVC and other companies are collecting on you -- like Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc... This forum is peanuts.
