I want to send a holiday card to a school friend (we are both college students). She is 20-something, single, and living with her parents. I am 50-something, married with kids who are out of the house. My friend has met my husband and one of my kids just once. I addressed the card to her alone, wishing her and her family best wishes. I am uncertain as to whether to sign if from myself, me and DH, or me, DH and kids. I know that none of these ways is wrong, I just want opinions to help me decide which it the most correct. TIA

When this is the case, for me, I will often send a card with my name.... and then put a little note on it that says something like DH and kids send warm wishes too....

Sometimes if I send a card to someone with this type of relationship, I sign it "My Name & Family". Other times I just sign my own name. (If I've met anyone in her family, I might address it to "Her Name & Family" too - especially for something like a holiday card.)

I think you really can't go wrong no matter what you decide to do.

Is it possible that you're over thinking this? Are you on any level afraid she may misinterpret the card? I doubt a 20 something living with her parents is sending out greeting cards nor would she expect them. If you see her at school why not just wish her a happy holiday or take her out for lunch?

I would just sign my name. She's not going to care about your family's ""warm wishes.""

I have friends that have never met my husband, so if I send them a card I usually only sign my name, it depends on the situation.
