Has the NFL Handled ANYTHING Right????

Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, the other 2 guys, the Rhianna flap, hiring 4 women (and no men) for their domestic abuse committee...

I don't think they have handled ANYTHING right at all!

One guy gets a slap on the wrist, then an indefinite ban...the other is out one week, then back. I think at least one of the other two has been convicted over the summer of domestic abuse...and he's playing pending appeal - like nothing happened.

The league doesn't seem to have ONE consistent way to handle these things...they appear to be reacting and lurching from crisis to crisis.

IMO, Goodell has to go. He made 44.5 MILLION dollars in 2012 for this???

I don't think the NFL is equipped to be judge and jury. Don't think they should be either.

This has been going on for a long time. Hard to figure out what to do now.

Might need to think for a bit about what to do.

Judge & jury...and dispenser of punishment - that is one of Goodell's most important roles in his job description - that and negotiating TV contracts and merchandising agreements.

The NFL controls the broadcasts and decides what is in them.

They even say a little "blurb" every game about that the game is the property of the NFL.

Ultimately all the decisions are final in the hands of the NFL.

They determine the talent - the theme songs - the Super Bowl half time music, etc.

I think the NFL will come up with consistent rules on how to handle all of these issues, part of the reason for bringing on a committee. This is not just an NFL issue it's a societal issue. It needs to be handled properly but the judicial system is judge and jury not the NFL.

There are rules on how they can act after a big play or a touchdown...their socks have to even be regulation! He can fine players, suspend them or ban them for life. He obviously can't put them behind bars - but in his role he is the ultimate guy who decides who gets to play and who can keep their job.

There are LOTS of rules the commissioner has to enforce in order to maintain the good reputation of the league (and keeping the sponsor money coming in.)

I just heard that Anheiser Busch is now reviewing their relationship with the league in light of everything that has happened!

I agree. The NFL most certainly IS judge and jury when it comes to assessing the behavior of their employees; if those employees are deemed in violation of the standards set by the NFL, and their ultimate employment status with the NFL.
