The FDA released yesterday a replacement for the food pyramid they used for years. It is called a food plate. It shows a glass of milk beside a plate with half the plate covered with fruits and vegetables and a quarter with a piece of chicken and the rest with a piece of bread. The bread is whole wheat and has nothing on it and the chicken is not cooked. It is the most unappetizing thing I have ever looked at. And i don't understand where things are supposed to fit into it -there are absolutely no sugars or fats at all. That is totally unrealistic and fats are a necessary part of every diet, as are simple carbs.I think i will be contuining to follow the old pyramid - it makes much more sense to me.
