There are Secret Shoppers Everywhere!

Did you know that the people who sell your Medicare policies and the customer service reps are regularly visited by "Secret Shoppers"?

I know they are in stores and restaurants, but until recently I didn't know they are in the health insurance industry.

They are hired by both the insurance companies directly and also by the feds to monitor care.

Hi, terrier! I'm a secret shopper! I received an unsolicited request to join, and I've been pleasantly surprised to learn the scope of their watchful eye (and, yes, it includes secret observations and reports about government agencies). I wonder if there are several of these "secret shopper" groups out there?

I used to secret shop -- a lot of different businesses.

I was even undercover applying for jobs.

Hmm, that sounds like the perfect job for moi. Except, I would like to work for Macy's, Penney's, etc. Lol.

Word in the hallways at work - random phone calls to offices increasing, testing customer service skills via SSs. Request of president of college. Whenever we get stranger calls than normal, we tease one another about the possibility of a SS.

If I managed or owned a business I would absolutely think about using SSs.

Yes, this has been going on for a while and is nothing new. Any and all businesses/industries can and do use them.

I'm handicapped but pretty much mobile. Is that a job that I could do to beat the loneliness I feel so much of the time? How does one apply or get to be a secret shopper?

I did an application for Trendsource a couple days ago after I saw this post. Today I got an offer to go out to the Zia Pueblo, an Indian reservation, to do some kind of survey. Had to pass on that one; can't do the walking.
