Deciding whether to move...........

I'm looking for people that have experienced this:

My husband and I are retired and live in a very small town. We have one of the nicest homes in town and will have limited opportunities to sell it. In an unexpected turn of events, there is a possiblity that someone may be interested in buying our home.

Coincidently, (recently), I have become mildly interested in moving about an hour away to a bigger area. I have tried to think of all the pros and cons....among them: our ages, concern if, in the end, my husband would be content; giving up my basement (as storm protection lol), etc.

I am an admitted homebody, but my husband (who is 10 years older than me) is very outgoing, can't sit still, and always has something going on.

We would be moving away from his "hangouts" and a lot of outdoor stuff he enjoys. I, on the other hand, have never lived anywhere else (except during college). I have a few good girlfriends, but we don't socialize with other couples very much. I am even thinking about if I would ever have to be on my own one day......hate to think about that day, but I'm REALLY trying to be thorough

I have one sibling living here, but the rest of our families have either passed or live away.

I feel like we are basically in a rut, and the change may do us good. It is such a big decision, though, and it would be really tough to be sorry we did it.

I am just interested in hearing if you have taken the plunge and done something like this.

Can you think of other basics I haven't covered? I sure want to think this potential move through carefully. BTW, I am 60.
