Married at First Sight - the Finale

Did anyone else keep watching this? I did. I found it cute and a good summer diversion from everything else. I guess it works - two couples stayed together. Guess which one didn't!

I also enjoyed the show. I was not surpried the couple choose divorce and thought it odd that the therapists kept saying what a good match they were?

I haven't watched last nights episode yet, it's on the DVR but I googled to see who decided to divorce.

I always thought he was selfish.

I enjoyed it! I felt it was a good turn out. The African American couple that divorced just did not have the type of relationship that would build a good foundation. He was too set in his ways... she was as well. Doug and the gal with him... I just do not know about HER long term. She seems like she has a lot of issues to resolve and may not be able to trust Doug or ANYONE until that is resolved... I felt sorry for Doug... like a little puppy wanting a pet and not getting ANY( ) As far as the young couple, I think have a chance.

By the books their personalities matched... but real life does not go by the books. It goes by emotions and they just did not match that way.

It has been a fascinating experiment, for sure.

When Vaughn was packing his gear right up to his driving away, Monet seemed curiously indifferent. But they had already agreed they would divorce so maybe any grief, if she felt any, was expressed privately but I'm doubting that. I think she felt strongly for herself all throughout the experiment and didn't cue into his feelings much at all. I hope his next love will not resent cooking at home or that he learns for himself.

I worried the youngest husband would get cold feet! I think they'll be fine. He needed someone exactly like her.

If Doug had been rejected, a whole lot of women would have been knocking on his door. I hope they make a go of it. I thought she would opt for divorce having kept him at a distance (so to speak) and off balance. The lie he told probably was a positive in the long run forcing them to deal with the issue of dishonesty early on.

on the off note... I noticed the young blond gal and Doug's gal( what was her name???) wore big black false eye lashes in every scene... to bed, 24 hours a day it seemed! I just found that interesting... I wonder if the guys ever saw them without all that makeup they wore. Perhaps they took it off when the cameras were off... but maybe not!

gazelle, I'm pretty sure they have the kind of false lashes that are individually glued atop live lashes. My daughter recently had it done. It's an expensive and lengthy procedure.

I, too, found it interesting that the team thought Vaughn and Monet were most compatible. But then on an older episode of The Bachelor, they brought in a girl who was matched perfectly for him on eHarmony. He didn't keep her past the first night. So sometimes experts don't know everything!

Monet said she wanted a "take charge" husband, but she's too independent for that. Vaughn wanted a traditional wife, but he wants her to be independent (?) I think both of them, in spite of the PHYSICAL chemistry, were not emotionally connected at all. It was a little much when he took the bed - which was his - from the apartment right away! I'm sure that was done for dramatic effect!

I'm glad Jamie gave Doug a chance. I guess we'll find out next Tuesday whether or not they can fall in love. I think Doug is already.

I think Jason was falling in love too, even though he didn't admit it. Those two are the reason I watched. Cortney is definitely a catch for him. If he had even CONSIDERED letting her go, he would have been crazy. She was open to him from the beginning.

Hard to believe the experts briefly considered matching Jamie and Jason. I can't even see that now! I'm sure these couples are friends, and they're all probably laughing about that part of the show!

One thing I found interesting: Doug is an ordained minister and has performed marriages on his own. I think Jason and Cortney were the only ones who had a specific reference to God in their vows. Can't figure that one out.

But again, it's a reality show! (Interesting that there were virtually NO spoilers anywhere about this show.) That's why you rarely saw Jamie and Cortney without makeup on. I DO think the premise was real. I don't think these couples knew each other before. But I also think once things started they were "coached" on how to react in certain situations. Remember all of the long pauses, and the camera moments when they would voice their feelings - I think a lot of that was played for the audience.

I like all of the experts, and look forward to the next season with them. They work together well. Dr. Pepper Scwartz (didn't you love how the kids called her "Dr. Pepper"!) is so warm and enthusiastic; Dr. Logan Lefkoff, a little more subtle, but also warm; Dr. Joseph Cilona, serious, clinical, but still caring; and Greg Epstein, again caring (but it didn't seem to me used to being on camera much!).

Monet was totally over Vaughn...did you notice she got the keys to her apt....which I thought was very curt and a bit rude....turned and walked away without a backward glance. Up those stairs and never looked back or even waved bye.

Oh, I did not know about permanent false lashes? Who would have known!

In the last episode, Monet said she has a better idea now of what she wants in a relationship and that she didn't answer the profiler's questionnaire correctly based on this experience. In 6 months there will be a follow up show on each couple.

There was a preview of the upcoming 6 month show. It showed the host, who was never on before, asking about this. We also saw that Monet and Vaughn don't think much of each other.

Of all of them I think Jamie is the one who could be disappointed since she seems to have such high expectations for what she will accept in a marriage..Even though Doug has promised and will do his best, there will always be circumstances beyond his control and Jamie will be forced to accept that fact. I think Doug is a cutie too.

I like Vaughn; he seems to be an easy going guy and though he wasn't perfect either was his partner. Going into a relationship with the expectation of changing the other party doesn't work.

The reunion show is next Tues...which is 6 months after their decisions. Vaughn easy going? No disrespect...I find him uptight...not willing to compromise.

Monet I found vivacious but not affectionate towards Vaughn....they were not a match made in heaven. I also found her condescending about his career.

I thought Jamie was a real ball buster but seems to eventually be won over if one is persistent enough, grovels enough, ingratiates themselves enough. Most men would have thrown in the towel and said adios.

I thought Jamie blew the smoking episode way out of proportion. I worry she will look for any little flaw to walk.
