Multifocal contact lenses...

Does anyone wear this type of contact lens?

Someone was telling they eliminate the need for readers over contacts and she's really pleased with them.

I tried. They caused me headaches.

But I would suggest trying them (samples from the doc before you commit), because I would have loved them if they worked for me.

(I have pretty bad vision)

Thanks...sampling first is a good idea. I didn't make my appt. yet but plan to go in the near future and want to ask about these.

I have had Multifocal contacts for years and with them I do not need readers. I tried one contact for near and one for far, that didn't work for me, never seemed to adjust. The only minor drawback with Multifocal contact lenses is that you have to give up a little clarity on one end, either far or near. Most of the time I don't even notice. I can see well to drive, read, and everything in between. I love them and prefer them to other contacts or glasses.

Just remember artificial vision will never be as clear as natural/young vision.

I don't know if your eyesight/vision would allow for it, but have you thought about or tried just wearing one contact? One eye for distance and the other for reading, etc.

They were great for 2 weeks then horrible. I have problems seeing up close as it is, after 2 weeks I couldn't even read the gauges in my car! Got rid of them ASAP and went back to my usual contacts. The opthamologist said there's actually a very low percentage of people that have success with them.

My eye Doc says a lot of people have problems with them. Didn't recommend for me when I asked about them.

It was just all part of the fact that some do great with them and some don't. I don't think I was the only one to report that at first they were good then horrible. Why it would change I'm not sure, it probably has something to do with the concentric circles and the lens being fit differently. Dunno.

Love them!! I've been wearing them for a few months and they have been wonderful! I couldn't the one contact for far away and one contact for close up. Doctor gave me sample of the multi focal. It's like regular contacts. They are also comfortable as well.

Add me to the list of those who love them! If you don't like the first brand you get, try another. I wasn't totally thrilled with the Bausch and Lomb lenses, but I love the Ciba ones.
